Royal Family Detests Trump For Diana Comments - Invitation To Royal Wedding Unlikely

Multiple UK media sources are reporting that Prince Harry and most of the royal family “hate” Donald Trump given how he publicly stalked Princess Diana, and bragged following her death that he could have slept with her.

It seems that the tension between Trump and the royal family is back in the news again given that Prince Harry is now engaged to and planning a wedding with Meghan Markle. Moreover, sources close to the family say Trump is likely to be off the wedding guest list despite the potential political repercussions of doing so.

Trump has been a serial braggart about his prowess with women, but his comments speaking about Princess Diana are noxious and particularly galling. As a guest on Howard Stern’s radio show in 1997, right after Diana died in a car crash, Trump bragged that he could have “nailed” Princess Diana, and he would have done it “without hesitation.”

The ever-politically incorrect Trumpster also remarked he would have made her take an HIV test first.

A longtime friend of Princess Diana once publicly commented that Diana wanted nothing to do with the brash US real estate mogul, noting that Trump gave her the “creeps.”

Not surprisingly, Trump’s vulgar and uncalled for remarks have not been forgotten by Prince Harry or others in the royal family.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have all privately expressed their distaste for Trump,” author Christopher Anderson, who has written extensively on the royal family, noted in a recent interview with the UK media.

Of note, there is apparently more to the history between Donald Trump and the royal family than his crude words about Diana. Back in 2015, Trump was apparently obsessed with the Duchess of York after her divorce from Prince Charles and constantly sent her flowers.

All of this history between Trump and the royal family plays out as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan their wedding and decide on a guest list. It should be noted that the general protocol is for standing state leaders to be invited to royal weddings, but many believe that Trump will not get an invitation to this particular royal wedding.

Moreover, to add insult to injury, there is a possibility that ex-US President Barack Obama, who is a friend of Prince Harry, and his wife Michelle will get an invite instead of the Trumps.

The other consideration is how deeply unpopular Donald Trump is in the UK right now. Prince Harry is not the only who isn’t real keen on Donald Trump, and perceptions about Trump are only likely to worsen if Trump is not on the wedding guest list.

According to a senior official in UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s office, diplomats in Whitehall are concerned with the political fallout if Trump is snubbed: “Relations with Trump’s White House are strained. Trump has put off visiting the U.K., reportedly out of concerns that his presence in London could spark massive protests."

The official continued, "Now with the royal wedding looming, there are further concerns that Prime Minister Theresa May would have trouble engaging with Trump diplomatically if he suffered another national snub by being kept off the guest list in favor of the Obamas.”
