Unlike Tiffany Trump, FLOTUS Avoids Backlash While Donning Similar Red Coat

When any of the ladies from the First Family are out in public, the discerning eyes of the fashion police are soon to follow. At times, these particular cops aren’t exactly on the friendly side.

There have been a countless number of times in which First Lady Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, or Tiffany Trump have faced some criticism for a particular wardrobe choice, but more often than not it amounts to nothing more than hot air from those that don’t care for President Donald Trump.

However, there are times when even these typically fashionable ladies do miss the mark, and one of them took place around Thanksgiving. Tiffany was on hand for the ceremonial pardoning of the turkeys at the White House, and she wore a seasonable red coat dress - and not much else.

The dress was on the short side, and the fact that her legs were devoid of tights gave some viewers a ton of pause. As AOL shares, the fashion cops on social media came out in full force for that one.

“I guess #tiffanytrump is too poor to buy a longer coat. #nasty,” shared one user.

“Oh, by the way, Tiffany Trump’s coat dress was way too short at the pardoning of the turkeys. #toomuchskinTiffany,” wrote another commenter.

“Forget something? Tiffany Trump puts her bare legs on full display in a very short coat and heels,” posted another user.

Interestingly, the First Lady recently donned a similar wardrobe choice at the lighting of the White House Christmas tree, and there was nary a peep from critics. However, there was a rather large difference. Whereas Tiffany’s coat was definitely on the way-too-short side for bare legs, Melania’s was of a more appropriate length that perfectly captured the festive spirit.

Of course, if one was to extend the effort and dig around really hard, there were likely some folks that were throwing shade at FLOTUS as well. Such is life for the First Family, but we can only imagine that it’s not the easiest set of circumstances to deal with.

Take the case of Tiffany’s coat, for example. She was merely at the White House on break from Georgetown law school to participate in a fun little event. Do you really think she was looking to start a firestorm with her attire for the day?

We wouldn’t think so, and we can also fashion a guess that the criticism she received afterward led to her having some unpleasant feelings. It’s not easy being in the public eye to begin with - and in Tiffany’s case, it’s only because her father is who he is - but it’s made all the more difficult by the fact that each and every appearance opens you up to an inordinate amount of criticism.

So what can we all do about that? Not a whole lot, as it’s not going to change anytime soon. However, we can all resist the urge to pile on when the criticism starts flying around. After all, the world will be just fine with less snarky comments regularly flying around.
