Victoria Beckham Would Have Zero Problem Designing Clothes For FLOTUS

Earlier this year, quite a stink was made by members of the fashion industry in regards to whether or not they would design things for First Lady Melania Trump or not. Interestingly, those that yelled the loudest were never directly asked to design anything for her. Apparently, the thought process was to put it out there just in case it ever came up. We can safely assume they have been removed for consideration to do so, if they were ever there in the first place.

Other designers were able to see past partisan talking points to state that they would be honored to dress the First Lady if it ever came to pass. In short, it was one of those things that became a thing simply because someone said something controversial. From that point, the thing gets bigger when everyone else is asked for their thoughts on the matter. Eventually, the thing dies a slow death after the next controversial thing is said.

As Fox News shares, the thing is back - but this time a designer is once again taking the high road. Fashion designer and former Spice Girls front person Victoria Beckham recently weighed in with her thoughts at Vogue’s Forces of Fashion, as Melania was spotted wearing something of hers.

“With regards to the first lady, she did wear something of mine the other day. She bought it from the shop,” Beckham explained. “I just think if any woman chooses to wear me, or invest in me as a designer, that’s incredibly flattering.”

It seems like Melania is not the only member of the first Family that’s particularly enamored with Beckham’s designs of late.

“Trump wore the Beckham-designed piece, a slouchy navy blue turtleneck that retails for $1,050, while she was boarding the Marine One for Puerto Rico. The first lady paired the cozy sweater with cropped blue pants and sky high navy stilettos to match,” Fox shares. “Victoria Beckham’s designs seem to have a place in the Trump family’s wardrobe. Ivanka Trump has been seen wearing a $35 dress from Beckham’s Target line. And last October, Melania Trump donned another one of Beckham’s fashions – a $1,850 sleeveless fitted dress – to an interview with Anderson Cooper.”

This is all fine in Beckham’s world, as she’s in the business of appealing to all consumers regardless of political leanings.

“I like to make everybody happy, and whoever it is, if they want to wear my clothes and I can make that happen, and the sample is free, then I would jump at the opportunity to do that,” she added.

That sounds like an incredibly wise way to handle things. While Melania and Ivanka have plenty of critics out there, they also have plenty of supporters that may not be as vocal. Regardless, people watch what they wear, and that can be a serious boon for a designer’s line when it happens. By most schools of business thought, that would be considered a good thing. Beckham seems to realize that simple fact, and it also doesn’t need to be pointed out to her that everything doesn’t have to revolve around political talking points.
