President Donald Trump has been getting a lot of criticism from his former election opponent's daughter. Chelsea Clinton has jumped on Twitter to take a jab at Mr. Trump on his initial reaction to the crisis.
On Saturday Night, the US learned that North Korea test-launched new missiles as President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania hosted a dinner party at their Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was the guest of honor at Mar-a-Lago, and the North Korean missiles are of particular concern to him with Pyongyang posing such a big threat to Japan’s national security. Many believe the missiles are a deliberate intention to test president Trump, to see what the new POTUS will do.
When news came through in the middle of dinner, the president and his aides rushed to formulate a response to the ballistic missiles. They worked up an impromptu response right in front of dinner guests, according to CNN. Among the diners were White House strategist Steve Bannon, National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, various foreign dignitaries, members of the president’s cabinet and journalists.
Reports say the president, his advisors and Minister Abe reviewed documents on the patio, using their cell phones to provide light, as other guests watched. It didn’t slow down the dinner party, however, according to accounts by CNN. Wait staff were still serving the main course at the time.
After scrambling, the two leaders headed to the ballroom of Trump’s ‘Winter White House’ home and prepared statements.
“North Korea's most recent missile launch is absolutely intolerable,” Abe said in a terse tone.
Chelsea Clinton slammed the president for conducting a serious crisis in the middle of a dinner party. Univision anchor Enrique Acevedo shared a photo of the bustling scene, with President Trump in the middle of the scramble.
On Sunday, Chelsea Clinton responded: "How many of Mar-a-Lago's new members will be (already are?) members of foreign intelligence agencies & media organizations?"
