Clinton: Huckabee's 'Inflammatory Rhetoric Totally Unacceptable

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton told supporters at a campaign rally in Iowa on Monday that she was “disappointed” and “really offended personally” by Mike Huckabee’s comparison of the Iran nuclear deal to the Jewish Holocaust.

Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, Baptist minister and Fox News host who is seeking the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, predicted Saturday during an interview with Breitbart News that the Iran agreement will “march the Israelis to the door of the oven.” He was referring to the Nazis’ use of gas chambers to exterminate Jews in Germany.

“I find this kind of inflammatory rhetoric totally unacceptable,” Clinton said, according to The New York Times. “This steps over the line, and it should be repudiated by every person of good faith and concern about the necessity to keep our political dialogue on the facts and within suitable boundaries.”

The Hill reported that, despite widespread criticism from Republicans as well as Democrats and Jewish organizations, Huckabee is refusing to back down from his inflammatory comment.

President Obama said the candidate’s remark “would be considered ridiculous if it weren’t so sad.” In response, Huckabee declared Monday: “What's 'ridiculous and sad' is that President Obama does not take Iran's repeated threats seriously.”
