Looks Like Americans Might Have To Say Goodbye To The First Lady

A big black storm cloud is circling around the White House, and those clouds show no signs of dispersing any time soon. A ton of unanswered questions remain about Russia, and it seems like new ones are emerging every day.

While there remains no concrete evidence that any wrongdoing has taken place, it’s an incredibly bad look for a sitting president to have so much controversy surrounding their administration. A number of people are fed up with that, and some folks are stepping up to the plate to see what they can do about it.

As America Now shares, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) has filed an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump on the grounds that the commander-in-chief has been obstructing investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

As Sherman sees it, the president began obstructing justice on the day that he fired FBI director James Comey. He was fully inspired to file it when it came to light that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian attorney during last year’s presidential campaign.

Sherman notes that his filing is the "first step on a very long road," but he thinks his efforts will gain more traction.

"But if the impulsive incompetency continues, then eventually - many, many months from now - Republicans will join the impeachment effort," he said.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked for her thoughts on Sherman’s filing, and she referred to it as "utterly and completely ridiculous" and "a political game at its worst."

In fairness to Sanders, Sherman’s filing is little more than a symbolic gesture at the moment. There’s a long road ahead to having actual grounds for impeachment. Namely, there needs to be some proof that an actual crime has been committed.

At the moment, we have a whole lot of hearsay, but not a whole lot that would stand up in a court of law. That’s for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to dig through, and he’ll certainly have no shortage of things to check out.

Among the items to look through are Trump Jr.’s email chain around the time of his meeting with the Russian lawyer.

"The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father," wrote entertainment publicist Rob Goldstone. "This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump - helped along by Aras and Emin."

"Thanks Rob I appreciate that," Trump Jr. replied. "I am on the road at the moment but perhaps I just speak to Emin first. Seems we have some time and if it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer. Could we do a call first thing next week when I am back?"
