Donald Trump went on a Twitter rant Sunday to slam Hillary Clinton for backing an election recount in Wisconsin, The Huffington Post reported.
The president-elect was enraged at the news that Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein filed for the recount on Friday, and that the Clinton campaign had announced its support of the effort. Stein suggested possible hacking of voting machines, perhaps by the same Russian operatives who attacked computers at the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign.
Trump, calling on his opponents to recognize his victory, pointed out that Clinton criticized him for refusing to promise he would accept the outcome of the election. When the Republican nominee said during a debate that he would wait to see how the race turned out, Clinton declared: “I, for one, am appalled that somebody that is the nominee of one of our two major parties would take that kind of position.”
Trump tweeted: “Hillary Clinton conceded the election when she called me just prior to the victory speech and after the results were in. Nothing will change.” In his next message, the president-elect quoted Clinton’s statement during a debate that “we’ve had free and fair elections, we’ve accepted the outcomes when we may not have liked them, and that is what might be expected of anyone.”
Trump also noted that when she lost the Nov. 8 vote, Clinton said: “We have to accept the results and look to the future. Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.”
