Trump Has Made History - As The Most Corrupt POTUS

President Trump, by exploiting his position as the so-called “leader of the free world” to promote his hotels and other business operations around the world, has established himself as the “most corrupt POTUS ever,” according to The Huffington Post.

The news site pointed out that Trump “makes face time with visiting dignitaries a perk for his paying customers” at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and that his “top aide urges the citizenry to embrace products sold by (daughter Ivanka Trump).” No previous president has been more “open and willing to use the prestige of the White House to enrich himself and his family,” HuffPost alleged.

“I’m at a loss,” said Robert Maguire of the Center for Responsive Politics. “This idea that the presidency is something to enrich your private interest to the extent he’s doing, not by going on the speaking tour or getting a big book deal after he leaves office, but while he’s in office, sort of milking the office for all it’s worth ― it’s tacky.”

Since entering office, Trump has racked up huge travel bills in visiting his hotels and golf courses. On all but two weekends since his inauguration, he has been at his “southern White House” of Mar-a-Lago. “He should not use his official position to promote his businesses,” said Richard Painter, former President George W. Bush’s ethics lawyer. “That doesn’t make him a good businessman. That makes him a bad president. … I don’t think any president in modern history has had a serious conflict.”

HuffPost quoted other “ethics experts” who believe no other president since at least 1900 has mixed personal and government business to such a degree. Unlike his predecessors, Trump has not placed his assets in blind trusts to avoid conflicts of interest, instead supposedly putting his two older sons in charge of his businesses. Eric Trump recently told The New York Times: “I think our brand is the hottest it has ever been.”

Ivanka Trump’s products also have gotten a boost, even though the retailer Nordstrom stopped carrying her clothing line due to protests. Kellyanne Conway, the chief presidential counselor, urged Fox News viewers to “go buy Ivanka’s stuff.”
