Couple Gets Married - Then, They Both Get Terrible News Weeks Apart

When Michael and Annette Maguire got married, they had known each other for more than 8 years. The pair has seven children together and share a long and loving history with one another.

However, their whole family has been rocked to the core after Michael was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Two weeks after this initial diagnosis, horrified doctors broke the news that Annette was suffering from stage 3 lymphoma.

The couple’s doctor, who had been practicing for more than 20 years, tells the Inquisitr that he had never had a harder week. Both Michael and Annette have health insurance and work in stable and well-paying jobs.

However, despite these measures, the pair’s medical bills are already taking their toll on the family’s finances.

To help on the financial front, friends and family of Michael and Annette gathered to hold a fundraiser for the embattled husband and wife pair. According to KCTV, the fundraising event was a huge success, with nearly 100 members of the local community purchasing raffles and baked goods.

Shortly after the fundraising event, Annette took Michael to the hospital for his surgery. The operation quickly turned into a 13-day battle to survive, with Michael enduring two life-threatening complications.

Although he pulled through, Michael is now 30 pounds lighter, finds it very difficult to sleep and is unable to keep food down when he eats.

Every day, Michael and Annette struggle to keep going physically. But however tough the day’s battle is, Michael and Annette have never taken things out on each other or lost faith in their marriage.

The couple believes that their attitude will stand them in good stead in the difficult months ahead and help them beat cancer together.

Michael and Annette’s heartbreaking story has since gone viral, with local and national media outlets and magazines jumping at the chance to report on the courageous team. WALB News 10 was one of the first local companies to report on the news, uploading a picture of the happy couple to Twitter along with the message: “HEARTBREAKING 'It’s hard.

You think you finally get it all together and move on. Face the possibility of dying and not having the rest of your lives together.' Couple diagnosed with cancer within two weeks of each other.”

Annette – who now has stage 3 cancer – is set to begin chemotherapy within days. With two adults in the same family on chemotherapy, Michael and Annette quickly realized that they couldn’t balance their existing budget without help.

To help make ends meet, the couple started a GoFundMe campaign. So far, they have raised a total of $3000.

Despite their positive attitude and love of life, it has been hard for Michael and Annette not to feel like they have been dealt a very cruel hand. “It’s hard. You think you finally get it all together and move on.,” says Annette. “Face the possibility of dying and not having the rest of your lives together.”
