Customer's Encounter With McDonald's Employee Goes Viral

One woman's video of her experience at a McDonald's drive thru quickly went viral after people saw how she was treated.

An employee at a McDonald's in Charlotte, N.C., was sacked after footage was released of her hurling racist insults towards a customer at a drive thru window. Ms. Wendy Rios, the woman on the receiving end of the verbal attack, posted footage of the incident to her Facebook account, where it has since gone viral.

In a video that has been viewed more than 500,000 times, a McDonald's worker can be seen verbally abusing a woman who was waiting for her meal in the drive thru. Ms. Rios supposedly asked the unidentified woman if her order was ready when the tirade of abuse began.

Ms. Rios, who then began filming the incident, demanded that the woman repeat what she said in order to “have proof” of the abuse. “I kept saying, ‘do it again, do it again,’ because I wanted to have proof what she did to me.”

After the employee then began displaying her middle finger to Ms. Rios, she also quoted President Trump. “I felt aggravated when she told me the words of Donald Trump and to say the words of deportation,” Ms. Rios confessed. The employee, who is now without a job, also asked Ms. Rios if she “could spell deportation?”

Officials at the McDonald's franchise were made aware of what happened to Ms. Rios and were quick to condemn the actions of the former employee. McDonald's Owner/Operator, George Forrest, released the following statement:

"The actions of this employee are inexcusable and in no way reflect the strong values McDonald's and my organization place on diversity, inclusion and providing a welcoming experience for our customers. This individual is no longer employed at my restaurant and we have expressed our sincerest apologies to the customer for this situation.”

Despite their condemnation, Ms. Rios remains disappointed by the outcome of the incident and answered “no,” when asked if their apology was enough.

The internet has gone crazy over the viral video, commenting on Ms. Rios’ Facebook post. Facebook user Tanya Arvelo, stated

“They both need to get fired. The manager wasn’t that nice to her either she could have asked if you needed anything else, if there was something she could do to better their service. it doesn’t matter there was a line of people, u got treated like s***.” Another user, identified as Lynnc Patricia, confessed that the situation left her “ashamed of the human race.”

In a similar incident, a McDonald's employee in an El Paso store was punched in the face by a customer after his order was supposedly taking too long. The Texas man started “raging” inside the restaurant after his order of fries took too long.

The man began a heated argument with the manager before removing his shirt and jumping over the counter, letting his dog run wild inside the restaurant in the process. After the man allegedly punched the manager in the face, he was taken into police custody.

It remains unclear as to whether the man faces charges.
