Family Goes To Disgusting Lengths To Steal Friendly Veteran's Benefits

A Vietnam veteran in Ohio passed away, but his family didn't tell anyone about his death. For several months, they kept the man's body in their own home while they continued to collect his social security benefits.

When police were asked to check on the man, they were shocked by what they found.

No one had seen Robert 'Bob' Harris, a 71-year-old Wainwright man, for months. Neighbors always worried about Harris because he seemed in poor health, and it did not look like the family was taking good care of him.

The home was filthy and cluttered, and Harris rarely looked bathed. The family would dump garbage bags of human waste in the trash because the toilets were not working.

The sheriff got a call on Wednesday by a concerned person who asked them to check on the man's welfare. The person was told the vet was living in a home with his family, but the person hadn't seen him in a while.

The family had been telling people Harris's health improved and he moved in with other family members in another state.

Police went to the home of Brian and Stacy Sorohan, the relative with whom Harris was living. Brianna Sorohan, the couple's 18-year-old daughter, was also living in the home. They found the remains of the veteran in the living room of the home.

His body was completely uncovered and decomposing a few feet away from where the family slept.

Harris had been left to rot for so long that he was practically skeletonized.

Police found video footage showing the Sorohan's had been withdrawing Harris' social security from ATM machines.

Brian and Stacy Sorohan were both charged with abuse of a corpse, credit card theft and failure to report knowledge of death. Brianna was charged with abuse of a corpse and failure to report knowledge of death.

The house has been condemned.
