Football Fans Witness Heartwarming Scene Between Two Children

A Seattle Seahawks fan was at a game one night when the team was playing the Oakland Raiders. The person got a little distracted from the game, however, when she witnessed an adorable act of kindness unfold right in front of her own eyes.

She snapped a picture of the scene and posted it to Facebook. Thousands of likes and hundreds of positive comments came pouring in from people who were touched by the photo and the story.

Chelsea Burke was attending the game when a junior football team began filing into the rows in front of her. She noticed how excited the little guys were about the game, and said she could tell 'their hearts belonged to football'.

One little boy was up in the stands waiting for his father, who was trailing behind. The little boy was beginning to cry because he was afraid of heights and the seats were pretty far up.

The staff assured the child that his father would be up there soon, but the child had tears in his eyes and was clearly upset.

Alone, he looked for a seat among his junior team when a teammate noticed he was in distress and immediately sprang into action. Donovan Shaw, an eight-year-old boy who was sitting in the stands with a black jersey, immediately reached out to the other boy, put his arm around him and invited him to have a seat.

The two sat in the stands as Shaw comforted and distracted the other boy. Donovan began explaining the game patiently and answering the boy's questions.

Burke, who was sitting right behind the two, quickly snapped a picture. She shared it on Facebook, and shared the story behind it. A lot of people were also touched by the random act of kindness.

"Beautiful story and picture. Thanks for sharing Chelsea. What the world needs now is love," one person wrote.

"Two fine young 'Lil White and Black person save forever saved from bigotry, we hope???" said another.

"Just wanted to add congratulations to the parents of the young man in the black jersey who reached out to help a kid in need. You have done a good job so far and raised a fine caring boy!" another commented.

Donovan doesn't think he did anything amazing, he was just helping out a teammate. “I asked him to sit down because I wanted him to feel better,” Donovan said later to the Seattle Medium. “He didn’t know which one Russell Wilson was, so I showed him where Wilson was and other players.”

"I told him it was going to be OK because you should help people when they’re sad,” Donovan added.

Donovan's mother, Dana, who wasn't at the game, wasn't at all surprised. “That’s just how he is,” she said in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle. "He loves everyone and just wants to be friends with everyone. He saw a little boy tearing up… Donovan pulled him down and talked him through it, comforted him for about 20 minutes.”

“It is just in him, he wasn’t even aware of what he did,” agreed Joyce Clark, Donovan’s grandmother, in a Yahoo Lifestyle interview. “He just did it because it’s in his heart.”
