Young Woman Lies About Being Raped- Tells Police She Had A Good Reason For Doing It

There’s a number of age-old tales that stand the test of time. Those tales are intended to impart wisdom from generation to generation. Many that hear those stories are quick to pick up on the lesson, and they move forward with the rest of their lives having that knowledge ingrained in them.

Others choose to dismiss it, and they end up subjecting themselves to making some serious errors down the road.

One of those popular tales revolves around the boy who cried wolf. To paraphrase the story, there was a boy that falsely claimed to have seen a wolf on a number of occasions. Others would rush to his aid to find that there was, in fact, no wolf.

That happened one time too many. The boy was confronted with a real live wolf, and you guessed it - no one rushed to save him.

It appears that Nikki Yovino, 19-year-old from South Setauket, New York has never heard that tale, or perhaps she didn’t fully digest it. Either way, she’s in a world of trouble for fabricating claims that she was sexually assaulted by a pair of college football players at Sacred Heart University.

As the Daily Mail shares, her claims were proven to be false. That hasn’t stopped her from pulling another card from her bag of tricks.

“Nikki Yovino filed an application in court Friday saying she's suffering from a psychiatric disability, The Connecticut Post reports. The 19-year-old from South Setauket, New York, will undergo a psychological evaluation. A judge will decide whether she qualifies for a pretrial diversionary program. If she qualifies and completes that program she could have the charges dismissed.”

Prosecutors have previously offered the woman a plea deal of two years behind bars, and they now plan to contest her request. She contended that she was assaulted by the players at a party they all attended back in October.

The players admitted that they had sex with her, but they claimed it to be consensual. That proved to be true, as Yovino eventually came clean about making the whole thing up. So why would she do such a thing?

“Police allege Yovino lied because she was worried another student would lose romantic interest in her when it became known she had sex with the two players,” the Mail continues.

“Her lawyer said last month she stood by her account that the two players from the university in Fairfield sexually assaulted her in a bathroom during an off-campus party.”

Yovino’s false claims are nothing short of reprehensible. Suppose for a minute that she never came clean. Two men’s lives would have been completely ruined. As it stands, they had to deal with being falsely accused of sexual assault because of her lying ways.

That’s not only sad, but it’s downright sick.

Her actions are also a thumb of the nose at the true victims of sexual assault, many of whom are afraid to come out of the shadows for fears of being shamed or called a liar. Yovino has only added to their consternation with her selfish actions.
