Furious Groom Drags Bride Out Of Car On Wedding Day - Rumors Abound

Video footage of an angry groom in China yanking his bride violently out of the wedding car was posted to social media. At first, no explanation accompanied the sad wedding scene, so naturally, people on the internet began filling in the blanks.

Wild stories about the groom, the bride, and what they might have fought about made the rounds, causing the video to go viral. The groom has finally stepped forward to explain his behavior and defend his wife.

The video shows the wedding car pulling up in front of guests and the groom getting out of the car. He appears to be furious. The bride attempts to slide out when he reaches down, grabs her and yanks her out angrily.

The bride looks extremely upset and shaken by the rough handling, and falls into the arms of a comforting female guest. The bride is helped into the wedding venue by guests as the groom storms in behind her.

The little clip sparked much speculation, so much that it had been viewed more than a million times. Stories about the couple's argument began to trickle in.

According to one report, the groom and the bride had a fight over the money he had given her for the wedding. He demanded his 300,000 yuan, nearly $45,000 U.S. dollars, be returned.

According to another report, it was the bride who was getting greedy. The woman, they say, refused to get out of the car to greet the wedding guests until the groom would agree to give her $8,800 yuan, which is nearly $1,300 U.S. dollars.

Some speculated that the fight wasn't really about money at all. One story that arose amid the rumors is that the groom discovered that the bride slept with her ex-boyfriend the night before the wedding. His abusive behavior was due to his anger about his unfaithful bride.

Another rumor got even wilder. It claims the groom met his bride at the wedding, only to discover she had children in tow. The story claims that the woman never told the man that she had children until they tied the knot and it was too late. That was the reason he yanked her out and stormed off with her.

The bride and groom were identified as Mr. and Mrs. Li of Ziyang city, according to the Chengdu Evening Post. The paper contacted the husband to ask about the story behind the viral clip, and he set the record straight.

According to Mr. Li, he was furious over money, but not at his wife. He claims that both the car driver and wedding well-wishers were clamoring for red packets.

Red packets are a Chinese tradition. They're small red pouches with money in them used at certain celebrations. They're supposed to be good luck, but people's greed turned out to result in a most unfortunate wedding day for Mr. and Mrs. Li.

"It was because of the chauffeur of the wedding car. He stopped the car a few times on a 10-minute journey and asked for red packets," said Li to the Chengdu Evening Post.

The groom said the driver stretched the 10-minute ride to almost two hours, and that wedding guests berated the couple for packets. "Every time the car stopped, we were surrounded by guests [who also wanted money] and we had given away all the red packets."

The groom said he got out of the car angrily, grabbed his wife and hurried away with her in a huff because he was furious about the demand for red packets.

Xiaoli, a bridesmaid, also confirmed that the couple were angry with the driver. She added that the careless driver had even driven off at first without the groom. "The groom got angry because the wedding car drove to the bride's house without him when he was still changing clothes."

According to Xiaoli, after the couple got inside the wedding venue and away from the driver of the car, they settled down and enjoyed a festive celebration. They had been engaged for four years before the wedding and both the couple and their family were very happy about the marriage, they just felt as though rumors were causing stress in their lives.
