Leave Your Hotel And Call The Police If You See This In Your Room

If you went into a hotel room, a shower or locker room, you might not think much of it if you saw plastic hooks on the wall. You might even hang your coat or your bag on it, and proceed to do whatever you intended to do without glancing at the hook twice.

Authorities are warning people, though, to look at these hooks a little more carefully.

Plastic double hooks in some public places are not there to let you hang your hat; they're there to film you. These inconspicuous little hooks have a tiny hole on top that looks like a screw hole.

It's actually a lens, and inside the hook is a little camera.

The mini spy camera hook allows someone to access it by remote so that they can live stream from another location. A lot of unsuspecting women have been secretly filmed without realizing it due to these hooks.

Some have been found in public restrooms, and authorities are worried about how many other places the hooks might be.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office in the Florida Keys found three devices in their local bathrooms. One was in a public bathroom at a beach, one was in a park bathroom and one was in the bathroom of a Walgreens.

While it's not illegal to sell surveillance items like this, it can be used by unscrupulous persons for illegal activity. The hooks are made by CM3 and are sold widely through retail stores.

You can even order the hooks on Amazon.com for a mere $12.96. They come in black or white, and have two hooks protruding instead of one.

The camera is charged via a USB port on the back of the hook.

One drawback for anyone using the hook illegally is that when the battery runs low, a green light goes off, making the electronic device hidden inside the hook very conspicuous.

Police are going to review the videos and see if they can identify any of the victims. They're urging anyone else who finds a strange hook to not touch them and call police.
