Judge Gets Amazing Request From Woman He Sentenced Years Earlier

No one wants to go to jail, even if they knew they were breaking the law. When a judge sentences someone, the hope is usually that the judge and the convict will never see each other again. For one woman, that's not the case.

She sees the judge who sentenced her as a hero, and she had a special request for him years later.

Jennifer Jenson was facing Judge Chris Wilton on drug charges three years ago. Jennifer was 21 years old, 8 months pregnant and had apparently hit rock bottom. She could have been put away for years, but she got lucky when she stood before a judge who was willing to take a chance on her.

The young mother-to-be had been addicted to drugs since she was 16 years old and just didn't know how to break free of her addiction. She’d had a lot of ups and downs in her life, but always ended up back on drugs.

As the years went on, she got herself into more and more trouble. It looked like at just 21 years old, this young woman’s life might be unsalvageable.

There’s always hope, though, and miracles can happen if we’re willing to believe. Judge Wilton looked at the young mother-to-be and was ready to believe in her.

Despite all of the mistakes she’d made in her life, he had compassion for her and wanted to give her yet another chance to turn things around. He wanted this not only for Jennifer, but for that precious little baby she was about to bring into the world.

The judge could have sentenced her to jail for a long time; but instead, he wanted to help change the course of her life. He sentenced her to jail for just one day, and she was ordered to return to his court a week later. She was stunned, and couldn’t imagine what the judge was up to by letting her off.

When Jennifer returned, Wilton ordered her to get treatment after her son was born. But he didn't let her go it alone. The judge kept up with the young woman throughout her rehab, continually scheduling appointments so she could account for her progress.

That support that Jennifer got from the judge made all the difference. Three years after she first faced him, she went back to him for her final court appointment. By then, she had completed rehab, overcome her addiction and had gotten her life back together.

She's a good mother and her little son is thriving.

Jennifer had a special request for the judge. She asked Wilton if she could stand before him one more time - this time, at her wedding. She was getting married and she wanted the judge to officiate the ceremony.

Wilton was delighted. "I'd be happy to," he told Jennifer, according to 'Inside Edition'. He takes no credit for this young lady turning her life around. He says she did it on her own.
