Mom Goes To Daycare To Pick Up Her Baby- Finds Him Dead

A mother from Muskegon, Michigan has found the strength to speak up about an unspeakable nightmare that she’s living through. As AOL shares, the mom would arrive to pick her one-year-old son from daycare, only to find out that her son was dead.

As a parent, it’s hard to imagine making such a shocking and devastating discovery. When you go to pick up your precious little child from a caretaker, this is the last thing on your mind. It gets worse, though. When the mother arrived, there were no ambulances or police, no frantic staff members rushing to greet her, no attempts at CPR… no one even realized anything was wrong.

The daycare workers had no idea that the child was dead, and it doesn’t sound like they even realized anything unusual had happened. The matter is under investigation by the local authorities, but Bryanna Reasonover is speaking out about the chilling case.

"Bruises and bite marks on his face, bite marks on his fingers. It was bad. I found Korey in a Pack 'N Play, he was laying in there like he was asleep. When his face rolled over he had all these bruises on the side of his face. And that's when I said what's wrong with my baby's face," she said.

Bryanna had dropped off her son and three other children at 'Keysha's Keepers' daycare. She says that the ladies that were working at the daycare had no idea there was anything wrong with Korey, and it doesn’t sound like they had any answers for her either. Her baby would be pronounced dead at the hospital later that morning.

"It doesn't seem real. It still doesn't seem real to this day. It seems like a dream and I'm going to wake up and he's going to be here," she continued.

After an investigation, it was determined that an eight-year-old girl was responsible for Korey's death. It's unclear exactly how the incident played out as the privacy of the girl and her family is being fiercely protected, but reports say the child in question has since been admitted into a psychiatric facility.

The daycare is licensed, but there has been no statement forthcoming from the facility’s owners. It sounds like there’s a whole lot more to come on this story, so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out. In the meantime, we have a distraught mother, a one-year-old child that died under mysterious circumstances, and a ton of question marks hanging in the air.

Keysha Collins, the owner of the daycare, was initially charged with attempted child neglect and child abuse. In a plea bargain, Collins pleaded no contest to the neglect charge and the child abuse charge was dropped. She was sentenced to one year of probation.

There was a public outcry when Collins got off so easily after the death of an infant. Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson said that he wasn't consulted about the plea deal and that he did not authorize it.

“I’m taking full responsibility for it and have assured the victim’s family that I am going to personally make sure that it gets fixed,” he said on WoodTV.

Hilson says he plans to withdraw the plea deal.
