Moms Slam Kim Kardashian West For Photos She Posted Of Her Son In His Car Seat

Kim Kardashian is always sharing photos of the family on social media, putting her glamorous life on display. Recent photos of her 18-month-old son, however, were not getting any praise from people. Kardashian was mom-shamed for making a vital mistake: improper use of car seat.

Kardashian posted a photo of Saint West, who just turned 18-months-old, sitting in his car seat. The little boy, who is the spitting image of his father Kanye West, was donning a yellow and black shirt along with miniature Vans sneakers.

While the proud mother might have shared the photo thinking how cute her tot is, and how adorable he looks in his little outfit, that's not what other moms on the internet saw in the photo. All other moms saw was that Saint was placed improperly in the car seat.

According to California law, children Saint's age have to sit in rear-facing car seats. Generally, at around two years old they're ready to transition to front-facing, but it really depends more on the child's height and weight. According to the California Highway Patrol website, children are ready to be turned around when they're '40 or more pounds' or '40 or more inches tall'.

Otherwise, CHP notes, "...the child shall be secured in a manner that complies with the height and weight limits specified by the manufacturer of the car seat."

Child safety experts agree. Dennis Durbin, an emergency room pediatrician, told Parenting.com, "A rear-facing child safety seat does a better job of supporting the head, neck and spine of infants and toddlers in a crash, because it distributes the force of the collision over the entire body."

People in the know on the internet were quick to jump in and point this out to Kardashian.

"He's very cute, but it would be safer for him to be back facing in his seat," wrote one person tactfully.

"A one year old can be internally decapitated, which is almost always fatal, just by a quarter-inch stretch in their neck from an accident," one poster said with a more graphic warning.

"It’s a known fact your child is 75% safer if an accident happens and are rear facing...baby till 2yrs and up (sic)," insisted another commenter on Facebook.

Some people were quick to jump to Kardashian's defense, claiming that her critics are always just looking for a reason to slam her.

"I see the car seat police are on a mission! Typical putting their nose and opinion in when it wasn't asked!" complained one person.

"Didn't realize so many people had degrees in car seat positioning," added another.

One person expressed their frustration with a rant, pointing out that no parent is perfect. "Seriously!? I don't think that there is one parent on this site or in this feed that has ever been absolved of a mistake. No one is perfect. And [Kim Kardashian] did not wake up to say this morning who can I ruin or harm my child.... There are so many decisions that are before us as parents each day and each decision is heavy and tasking. We make the best decisions for our family."

Others were very determined to get across their point.

"Look, I'm not trying to judge or anything. All moms aren't perfect and we all make mistakes. But clearly he isn't facing the right way. From mommy to mommy please rearface him until two. With all the paparazzi following you all the time you're at a bigger risk getting into an accident. Don't risk INTERNAL DECAPITATION or any other injuries if they could be prevented!" one person backfired.

According to the Daily Mail, a spokesperson for the Kardashians has reached out to report that Saint has met the height and weight goals to be turned around in his car seat. But it's doubtful that this will end the mommy wars.
