Mother Tries To Punish Son By Making Him Mow The Lawn, He Turns It Into A Business

One mother in Kentucky came home to find her teen son blew off all his chores and wasted the day away being lazy. She gave him a punishment in hopes of teaching him a lesson, but it totally backfired on her.

He loved his punishment so much, it's become his passion.

Barbara Wilson of Louisville sent her 15-year-old son Travis Durham out to mow lawns. She thought the lazy teen would learn a lesson after a healthy dose of hard work.

It didn't turn out to be much of a punishment for Travis, however. He loved it.

Travis loved cutting lawns so much that he got his brother and cousin in on the chore. The boys started mowing the lawn for all their neighbors. Ty then started hitting other neighborhoods.

The three boys won't accept money for their hard work. They will accept equipment donations, and have set up a GoFundMe page to help keep their equipment in working order.

"Because they're young black males, people are a little afraid to open their door," Wilson said. "They just shut the door, (say) 'no thank you.' They don't even give them a chance to tell them, 'it's free we want to stay out of trouble, we just want to take care of our community.'"

Wilson says even with the family struggling financially, they haven't stopped. For two months she didn't have a car, but she and her husband rented one so they could chauffeur the boys and their equipment to different communities.

"My husband may drop by and pick them up and take them to a different location. So me and my husband and the kids have to be coordinated all day."

Wilson feels blessed that her kids are learning the value of hard work and the importance of contributing to the community. She's promised them a trip to Walt Disney World next year, but the kids don't need the promise of big rewards.

They just keep on mowing out of the goodness of their hearts.
