Parents Shocked When They See What Their Toddler Is Doing In Her Crib

Like many parents, one couple from South Carolina kept their daughter safe by hooking up a monitoring system above her crib. With both audio and video, they could hear when their little girl cried out in the night, and keep an eye on her to make sure everything is okay.

One night they heard unexpected noises coming from the baby monitor, and at first, they were worried that someone was in their daughter's room. But then they checked the video and were stunned by what she was doing all by herself.

Kathryn and Caleb Whitt are trying to establish good routines with their 2-year-old daughter, Sutton. Almost every night, they go through a bedtime routine when tucking in their toddler. Most nights that includes a quick prayer to God, thanking Him and asking for His blessings on beloved family and friends.

One night the usual routine got disrupted and Sutton went to bed without prayers. The mom and dad didn't think anything of it. After all, Sutton was only two; they didn't think she really understood anything about prayers or their nightly routine.

Then they heard whispers coming from the baby monitor. They turned up the volume and took a peek, worried about what was going on. They'd put Sutton to bed an hour earlier and thought she was fast asleep.

For a moment there, when they heard the voices they thought someone was in her room and they panicked. Looking at the monitor they were relieved to see Sutton was fine, but they were completely blown away to see what she was up to all by herself.

Sutton was lying in her crib, praying. The little girl was not even rushing through the prayers that her parents usually kept short and sweet. She lay there in the dark asking God to bless one person after another, patiently listing everyone she knew. She even threw in a prayer for Santa Claus.

Kathryn and Caleb were so touched and excited when they heard their little baby girl. They couldn't be more proud and posted the video clip on social media.

The video went viral, with many Christians finding Sutton's private little prayer inspirational. A lot of adults might brush through their prayers, or even skip them. Sutton was a reminder that saying prayers is a privilege, not a burden.

She’s also a reminder that kids learn from the examples that we set for them. If we value a relationship with God, they will learn to do so as well.

The parents say that Sutton has taught them an important lesson. From now on, Kathryn and Caleb want to make sure that they pray with their daughter every night, and they plan to slow those prayers down and list a whole lot more people than usual.

They now realize that Sutton is learning a lot from the nightly routine, and even at her young age, she is getting a lot of good out of communicating with God.
