Photo Captures Elderly Man Lovingly Feeding Wife Ice Cream On Hot Day

The heat was on last week in Nashville, Tennessee, as temperatures soared to 98 degrees. One pastor thought it was a good day to take the kids out for ice cream.

When he pulled his car into the Sonic parking lot, he wasn't the only one who thought it was a good day for a frozen sweet treat, but what he spotted in a car next to him just melted his heart.

Pastor Brent Kelley, a 34-year-old dad, had just taken his kids to the pool for a dip to beat the heat on a hot summer day. He then headed to his local Sonic for some ice cream, when he saw something that made him stop everything.

Kelley, a minister with Ignite Ministries in Nashville, noticed an elderly man sitting just inside the open door of a car. He was doing something with ice cream. Kelley then realized the man was feeding his elderly wife.

The pastor quickly snapped a photo of the scene and posted it on Facebook. "So today, I took the kids to the pool and we stopped for ice cream on the way home," he wrote in his post. "When I got my ice cream and pulled out, I realized that this elderly man beside me was sitting outside his car door, spoon feeding his wife ice cream who also looked in her late eighties."

The touching image shows the man lovingly holding a spoonful out to his beloved. "He draped a towel over her and slowly fed his bride in the 98-degree temperature. It was a beautiful display of love."

The couple in the photo have not been identified, but the image of them and the tender moment they shared has gone viral, inspiring many people.

"That is love, and life and what it is all about," one person commented.

"This is the kind of story that makes me believed that true love really exist," said another.

The post has gone viral, with more than 512,000 likes, 375,000 shares and 69,000 comments. It looks like there are a lot of people out there inspired by an act of true love.

“A beautiful amazing man,” noted one commenter. “Someone for boys to look up to.”

“Will you feed me my ice cream in 50 years?” asked a woman, tagging her husband in the response.

The same couple has actually been spotted before sharing an ice cream, with the elderly man kneeling down to feed his wife. In January, a woman named Emily Dunham Tant also took a photo and posted it, according to WKRN.

Another time, a man named Adam Cook spotted the two and posted the photo. Ice cream dates must be a regular thing for the couple.

Perhaps that is the secret to a long and happy marriage. After all, how can you argue with someone, stay mad at them or neglect them if they regularly feed you ice cream?
