Photo On Snapchat Gets Young Parents Arrested For Child Abuse

Parents are always looking for cute new poses for their little ones so they can show off the baby pictures. Anne Geddes really started the trend when her photos of babies dressed as fairies and pea pods got international attention, and parents quickly began trying to come up with creative ideas of their own.

In this day and age with the Internet, baby photos aren't just for close friends and family anymore; in an instant, they can be viewed by strangers around the world. That's why parents better be careful when they get an idea - they might land themselves in trouble.

Twenty-three-year-old Paul Chuckluck and 21-year-old Johnnie Gaghins of Claremore, Oklahoma found themselves in hot water after they were reported for child abuse. The couple posted an image of their infant on Snapchat that was deemed possibly abusive or neglectful.

The photo features the 9-month-old baby inside a mesh laundry bag. The top of the bag is tied in a knot, and the bag was hung on a door handle.

Gaghins said that she snapped the photo because she thought it was funny, but no one else seemed to find the humor in the photo.

“Gaghins stated Chuckluck placed the nine-month-old inside the bag and tied the knot and placed the bag on the door handle,” explained an officer from the Claremore Police Department. “Gaghins stated she thought it was funny and took a picture of the child in the bag then placed the picture on her Snapchat account. Gaghins stated she did not try to stop Chuckluck from putting the child in the mesh bag.”

The couple received a visit from cops after concerned people began complaining. They're now facing charges. Compounding their troubles, Chuckluck has two outstanding warrants against him.

They wouldn't be the first couple arrested after sharing photos of their baby to social media. A mother in Virginia was arrested after she posted a photo of her child hanging from a planter hook by his t-shirt.

The 18-year-old mom, Alexis Breeden, turned herself in after being charged with felony child abuse.

The father of the child posted the photo after getting into a fight with Breeden.

A mother in Ohio livestreamed herself on Facebook as she taped her toddler to the wall with clear packing tape. She also taped his mouth shut. The mother even went so far as to taunt child welfare by urging them to 'take him'.

The mother, also 18, was trying to demonstrate for viewers how she restrains the child so she could clean without him getting underfoot. “You can’t clean without them running around tearing up? Tape ‘em to the wall. You can’t cook or none of that because they running around? Tape ‘em to the wall.”

There was a time when naked baby photos were thought to be cute. Decades ago, almost everyone's baby album included embarrassing additions such as a baby in the tub, having a diaper changed, or running around flashing the neighbors.

Those days are over. One couple in Utah is facing charges after taking a picture of the dad kissing his naked baby.
