Police Arrest Man Drinking And Driving - Notice His Shirt

A Pennsylvania police department stopped a man in the middle of the night because of the way he was driving. When they saw the man's t-shirt, it pretty much explained everything.

The suspect was arrested, and police couldn't help but share this story, and the mug shot, on their Facebook page.

The Newville Police Department said cops were patrolling when they noticed a driver 'committing multiple traffic violations.' They pulled the man over.

The suspect has been identified as Elwood Gutshall III, age 44. The minute the police saw his t-shirt, they realized exactly what they were in for.

The Saint Patrick's Day festivities had been over for two days, but Gutshall was still celebrating, apparently. He was wearing an Irish green t-shirt with a shamrock on it.

The slogan on the shirt read: Drunk Lives Matter.

You can imagine the eye-rolling that caused for the officers who pulled Gutshall over. As they suspected, the man was, indeed, driving under the influence.

His blood-alcohol content at the scene was .217%, which is about two and a half times above the legal limit for people behind the wheel.

Not only was Gutshall DUI, but he was driving with a suspended license, which was suspended for — you guessed it! — a previous DUI. In addition to the DUI and driving with a suspended license, the suspect was charged with a host of traffic violations.

Police just couldn’t help but share the photo of the shirt, which is sad in more ways than anyone can count. It’s a shame the shirt wearer doesn’t realize that when you get behind the wheel drunk, it’s not a joke.

If lives – drunk or otherwise – really mattered to him, he’d stop driving while intoxicated.

Gutshall faces a preliminary hearing on May 26, and hopefully he’ll learn his lesson once and for all.
