Rihanna's Latest Photo Sparks Major Controversy

If you’re not a famous face, you’ll generally get a pass if one of your snaps on social media seems a little off - except from your closest friends, of course. Celebrities don’t have that luxury, as every snap that’s shared of them is analyzed to death. If something is off - look out! That’s what happened to Rihanna recently. As Opposing Views shares, there was something off in an otherwise gorgeous photo of the star - and people promptly freaked out, almost as if they were in queue.

The photo featured the singer showing off the outfit she wore at Barbados' annual Crop Over Festival. While she looked stunning, closer examination of the photo led to the realization that it appeared as if she had two thumbnails in the snap. That was far too much for the social media universe to bear.

"This picture is photoshop. Look at the extra nail on her thumb," shared one user.

"There's something strange about your right thumb?" added another commenter.

"READ THIS‼️‼️ There's a blue string on her thumb, it's the same color as the snare on her other hand!‼️" wrote one user. "U crazy ppl," chimed in another user.

"It is not an extra nail, it is a cord that has the same color [as the] nails," added another commenter.

Needless to say, it escalated quickly, and tons of comments were flying back and forth. No official explanation has been given in regards to thumb-gate, so the social media universe will have to rack their brains until the next ‘controversy’ pops up. Elsewhere in Rihanna’s world, music producer/DJ Diplo shared some thoughts on the star in a recent issue of GQ Magazine, noting that Rihanna is the "one artist that we can't ever get."

“I think before we're all done, she'll be on a song of ours. Hopefully. But if not, I don't really care. I played her 'Lean On.' She was like, I don't do house music. I face-palmed so hard on that one.
Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited. The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high,” Diplo said.
"Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, Yo, G, I'm leaving unless you let me play her a song. So I played her a song. And she was like, This sounds like a reggae song at an airport. [laughs] I was like, I'm gonna go kill myself."

Rihanna responded to those comments on social media in a joking fashion.

"#DutyFree My bad [Diplo]," she wrote.

Of course, some users interpreted those comments as they chose to see them, and attempted to spin it into something that it wasn’t. Diplo provided some clarity for the inquiring minds.

"[If] youve been inside the private airport me and rihanna use, youd realize it wasnt actually an insult," Diplo wrote. "Talking about africa isn't important to these blogs they just wanna cover celeb news."
