Single Mom's Facebook Post Gets Her Fired Before First Day of New Job

Apparently, one woman never got the memo on how social media works and what not to say on Facebook where the world can see it. Kaitlyn Walls lost her new job before she even started after she got real about her feelings on Facebook.

“I really needed it really bad,” she told CBS DFW, of her position at a nearby daycare center. “I’m a single mom… trying to get out on my own.”

The 27-year-old said she was grateful for having a job and excited to start working but wasn’t completely in love with the idea of working with lots of children.

“I start my new job today, but I absolutely hate working at daycare,” she wrote on Facebook.

That’s when the attacks came. She was hit with a barrage of insults calling her a dumb b---- and saying that she had the “Bubonic Plague.”

“I had all these girls attacking me because I don’t want to be around a lot of kids all the time,” she said. “I actually cried. It really hurt because I wasn’t trying to offend anybody.”

Soon thereafter her new employer found out about the post and told her that she was fired and not to come in.

Walls wrote on Facebook afterward, “Oh, man, I made a big mistake." And she added, “I’m so sad. I feel like a failure here looking at my daughter crying because I’m afraid that I’m not going to be able to find a job because of my own stupidity.”

Walls said she learned her lesson and will think twice before going to vent on Facebook.

“I’m not going to post anything like it ever,” said Wall. “No matter how I feel.”
