Girl Comes To The Hospital With Stomach Pain - Find Out She's Pregnant And Married

A man in China brought a girl he insisted was his pregnant wife to a hospital in Xuzhou. He told the staff she was 20-years-old, but just by looking at her the staff realized this was a lie. It turns out the girl is 12-years-old.

The pre-teen was sporting a baby bump and stretch marks when the 40-year-old man claiming to be her husband brought her in for routine tests. The man's mother accompanied the couple, claiming to be the girl's mother-in-law.

Doctors confirmed that the girl is three months along in her pregnancy, and that baby is healthy, but the medical staff was concerned by the age of the young pregnant woman. She looked a little too young, despite the fact that her husband insisted she was 20.

They tried to ask the girl questions, but she  couldn't understand them because she didn't speak Mandarin.

“She is certainly not anywhere near 20-years-old,” said a member of the hospital staff.

The husband argued with hospital staff and told them to just do their job.

“I took her here to be examined — just do your job. Stop asking so many questions,” the man said, according to local news reports.

The medical team did do their job: they called police to report that two adults were trying to pass off a pregnant pre-teen as a grown woman.

Police arrived and demanded to see the girl's identification. The family couldn't present any form of ID to prove who she really was. Police quickly concluded that the child wasn't from China. They believe her to be a foreign national from Southeast Asia.

Police suspect the little girl was a victim of either an abduction or foreign bride trafficking ring. The husband has been arrested, according to reports, and police are continuing their investigation to find out how he came to know the minor.

According to some sources, there are around 50 million girls around the world under the age of 15 are forced into marriages with much older men every year. This problem has only increased in China, despite the fact that the minimum age for marriage for a woman is 20-years-old.

There is a long-time tradition in China for men to desire young Vietnamese brides, and purchasing such brides is not unheard of. Men will pay about $3,000 for a foreign bride. Considering it costs a man in China a lot of money to get married in the first place, buying an illegal child bride could even be considered a bargain for the men.

The practice is so common that many don’t even bother reporting it as a crime.

Little girls are lured in by traffickers, either tricked or drugged, and smuggled across the border because they bring in a lucrative fee. Since the nation abandoned the 'one child' rule, it seems that child brides are on the rise, as men want to start having more sons with a young, healthy wife.
