Sweet Photos of Firefighter Cuddling Traumatized Girl Go Viral

A firefighter responded to a call about a car accident in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A pregnant woman with several children in her car were involved in the accident, and one little girl wouldn't stop screaming. The firefighter scooped her up, and she immediately sought comfort in his arms. Sweet photos of the man with the little girl are touching hearts across the nation.

Captain Chris Blazek of Chattanooga Engine 6 was having a seriously busy day. The firefighter had just finished putting out a blaze, and headed back to the firehouse to clean up. Almost as soon as he jumped into the shower, the crew got the call about the accident on the highway.

Blazek put off his shower, got back in his gear and rushed out with the others in his fire house to help. Thankfully they were able to get the scene under control quickly as no one was seriously injured, but the pregnant woman was in distress.

“The mother was hysterical because she was having abdominal and back pain,” Blazek reported.

Two little girls, ages 4 months and 7 years, seemed alright. One tot was terrified, though, and wouldn't stop screaming. The firefighter stepped in to take care of her. The little girl really took to him.

Blazek shared on Facebook how he went to help her. "So I took her out of her car seat and did a quick physical exam to make sure she was okay. She immediately laid her head on my shoulder," he says.

The mother was taken to the hospital to be examined, and two of the older children went with her. Blazek stayed with the baby girl, comforting her and keeping her busy.

"I decided to sit and take a break with my new friend," he writes.

Soon after he began cradling her, the little girl fell asleep in his arms. Someone snapped a photo of the adorable scene, and the Chattanooga Fire Department posted the picture online.

"It's moments like this, that I am reminded, this is why I do the job," said the firefighter.

"Thank you for all you do! We need more stories like this to flood media, to show we still have good in our world. Bless you CFD!" wrote one person on Facebook.

"I have known Chris Blazek since high school, and this is not surprising to me at all. He is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Great job, friend! Thanks for all you do for our city!" said another commenter.

"Beautiful!! We need more people like this and less hate in the world!! All firemen, police, and first responders are here to help us! There a few bad apples but there is so many more good apples that we do not hear about! Thank you for you service!" said another.

A woman who claimed to be the mother jumped on Facebook to post a quick thank you to the rescuer. "I really want to say thank you for being there for my three girls. it was such a scary moment for all of us. God bless you," she wrote.

Several people jumped on to wish the mother well and to congratulate her on the new baby.
