Woman Orders Food, Amazed When 92-Year-Old Neighbor Called Over Delivery Guy

Ordering food is more convenient than ever with online ordering, apps and delivery services. One resident of Bacolod City in the Philippines ordered some breakfast from Jollibee, a local fast food chain, and it didn't take long before a hot meal was delivered to her door.

When the delivery man was leaving, the woman's elderly neighbor began to flag him down. She watched to see what was going on, and couldn't believe what the delivery guy did.

Maris Mayol Tian says she witnessed a heart-warming act of kindness that morning, and she was eager to share it on social media. An adorable grandmother that lives on her street saw the delivery man and began calling him over just after he brought Tian her food.

The perplexed delivery man went up to the 92-year-old woman to see what she wanted.

The grandmother began putting in her order for spaghetti and macaroni soup. She thought that the delivery man worked like a waiter, where he could take her order and then bring the food back to her house.

That's not normally the way it works, of course, and a more impatient delivery guy might have brushed off the elderly woman and told her to just call in her order. That is what Tian expected, but that's not what happened.

“I honestly thought he would just ignore her, laugh and be on his way, but he actually took out his own cellphone, dialed a number, and ordered for her!!!”

"There was a time when I hated Jollibee's delivery service because they messed up a few times, but now I think I'm going to order more delivery from them," Tian wrote.

The woman snapped a photo of her neighbor and the delivery guy, who she says is named Elpegie Palmares Sicor. She gives him a lot of credit and she wanted everyone to know what a great guy he is.

“Not a lot of people show kindness and pay attention to old people, but this guy did and I think that is very commendable and heartwarming,” Tian said to Coconuts.co.

The customer was so pleased with the kindness of the delivery man that she reached out to Jollibees on their Facebook page to tell them what she witnessed.

It was very well received. “He was praised at work by his manager and his co-workers. He said thank you. He can’t explain the feeling, [he’s just] very humble.”

After 86,000 likes, and 14,000 shares of the post, Palmares Sicor has gotten a lot of praise. People remarked about what great manners and great service he provided. Others couldn't help but notice how adorable the lola (grandmother) was.

Some even encouraged the company to give the man a reward for his good work, and all the positive free advertising he's brought his company.

"[K]udos to this accommodating Delivery Man. He should be given an award as a good employee,” wrote one Facebook user.

No word on that yet, but the best part of this good deed is that Palmares Sicor didn’t do it expecting a reward, praise, or recognition of any kind. He did the good deed out of the kindness of his own heart.
