Woman Orders Small Omelette For Her Baby, Cashier Calls Her A 'Weird Freak' On Receipt

A UK family went out to a local eatery and the woman ordered a 'child-sized omelet' for their baby. When the counter girl asked why she didn't want a regular-sized omelet, she explained the 11-month-old baby would never be able to finish it all.

Since the wife had actually worked at the restaurant in the past, she knew that special orders are usually no problem. Then the couple got the receipt and saw what the current staff think of people who request special orders.

Steve Dempster was furious by the way his wife was treated at Weetons Cafe in North Yorkshire, England. Because his baby is only starting to be introduced to new foods, his wife, whose name he is protecting, asked for a smaller omelet.

The cashier questioned their choice at the register.

"At the time I think she was being served by the cafe manager who was training up a new member of staff," Dempster told The Sun. "They went to type the request in and my wife noticed that the other member of staff sniggered, so she asked for a copy of the receipt."

When the couple got the receipt, they saw the manager had printed, "Small egg & tom omelette for weird freak/11."

Insulted by the rude comment, the couple demanded a refund. The restaurant issued a refund but did not offer an apology.

"It's not like she's made some ridiculous demand," Dempster complained. The angry husband says his wife was very upset and asked the counter staff, "Did I really deserve this treatment?"

"It's utterly shocking that the cafe manager thinks they can do that in front of another member of staff and not think the customer will ever see it," said Dempster.

Restaurant staff and patrons have been making a lot of headlines in America in recent years for writing inappropriate things on receipts. People have been taking out their aggression by saying rude things on the bill, from body shaming to homophobic preaching.

Maybe it’s time for people to just stick to business, and keep their thoughts to themselves.
