Woman Text Photo to Wrong Number, The Response Was Brilliant

When you're out dress shopping, it's hard to go it alone. Sometimes you simply must have a second opinion before you commit to a purchase, especially when it's for an important occasion. Thankfully, in this day and age, there is something we can do if we're not sure we want to plop the money on the counter yet.

We can snap a photo and text it to a friend in an instant, and like lightening we can get back a response. There's only one problem: sometimes you get a wrong number.

In the case of one woman, she did get a wrong number while looking for advice on her dress hunt. But as it turns out, it wasn't a problem at all. In fact, it had a happy ending for everyone.

A woman named Sydney was shopping at a store when she was conflicted about whether to make the purchase. She snapped a few selfies and sent them to a friend-- or so she thought. She accidentally hit the wrong number.

Instead of her friend, she sent the photo to a complete stranger named Tony Wood. The man happens to be a married father of six, who was in charge of most of the kids that day. He was very surprised to get the text, but he didn't want to disappoint the lady on the other end.

As Sydney waited at the store, she got a funny response. “I believe this message was intended for someone else,” Wood wrote. "My wife isn't home, so I couldn't get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! You should definitely go with that one!

Then the dad texted a photo of his kids smiling, giving thumbs up.

Syd was a little embarrassed about the wrong number, but tickled by the response. She forwarded it to a friend for a laugh. Mandi Miller got the text and thought it was hysterical. She posted screen shots of the conversation on Twitter.

"Syd accidentally sent pics of her dress to the wrong number and this was their response," she wrote.

Quickly, the story went viral. The children in the picture were delighted that everyone was sharing their photo. The funny wrong number turned around and sent another message to follow up. It took the simple mistake to a whole new level.

"Hello! Apparently you have made my children Twitter famous! My 2nd youngest (not pictured, he was at chemo clinic) has a FB page for his fight against Leukemia and one of our Prayer Warriors recognized the children!" he wrote, delighted. "Btw, my wife agreed that the dress looked great! God Bless!"

Someone who saw the public response found a GoFundMe campaign for Kaizler, the little boy with leukemia who was missing from the pic. They wanted to use the opportunity of this story going viral to get the word out, and sent out the link.

"Hope Twitter does it's Magic," the person said. "Let's get a Thumbs up from him too!"

That thumb's up picture came soon after.

"You're very kind. Here is a thumbs up from Kaizler!" tweeted the family, along with a photo of their adorable little guy.

A message from Wood came in the very next day. “The kindness and generosity of Twitter and other venues saw our GoFundMe account surpass our goal last night!” he reported the good news. “I can’t begin to thank everyone enough! This is a major hour of need for us and this blessing will help more than you know!”
