A mom in Colorado Springs who has terminal cancer has a dying wish.
Bernice Abeyta wants to know what happened to her young son who disappeared over 30 years ago.
The 73-year old has stage four gallbladder cancer.
“I do believe he`s still alive and at this point I`ve been trying to communicate with him and talk to him and just say, you might have to find me Christopher,” Abeyta commented.
Christopher, who was just seven-months at the time, was snatched from his crib one night at their family home in Colorado Springs 30 years ago.
“You want your children to be free … and have a life. So I'd like this solved before I go,” she said as she sobbed in an interview.
Before she leaves this world, she wants to find out the truth of what happened to her son.
“I think there are people out there that know something and they have been lied to and told stories to,” Abeyta noted.
She also wants Christopher to know she's never stopped looking for him.
“I'd like to tell him we never gave up. We never would give up. He was the light of our life,” she said.
Abeyta said she'll spend her last days and weeks doing what she knows best, fighting to find Christopher.
The good news is that the Colorado Springs Police report they finally have a person of interest in the case. Moreover, apparently, it's a person that some family members have suspected was involved for years.
