Ivanka Trump Wears An Out-Of-Character Hat In Israel - Here's Why

Regardless of your political leanings, almost everyone can agree on one simple fact about President Donald Trump and his family: it’s quite clear that the Trumps hold fashion in pretty high regard, and you would have a hard time finding a photo of any member of the clan not being stylishly dressed. That’s especially true for the women in the family. First Lady Melania Trump has brought her elegant, classy style to the White House, and she can spark a fashion trend on her own based on what she’s wearing. The same holds true on a smaller scale for First Daughter Ivanka Trump, who is always immaculately dressed, even when she’s doing something as simple as tending to her kids.

As Yahoo shares, the Trumps are in the midst of their overseas trip, and with that comes an endless amount of photo opportunities. As expected, the Trumps are not disappointing on the fashion front. Both Melania and Ivanka have received plenty of praise for being appropriately dressed for virtually every occasion on their trip, and new photos of them are constantly making the rounds on social media.

During the Israel portion of the trip, a fashion accessory of Ivanka’s really stood out. She’s not known for wearing hats, but there she was with a small navy hat perched on the side of her head during one stop on the trip. That, of course, sparked a ton of questions, including whether or not we were in the middle of a hat renaissance without even knowing it. Before little navy blue hats start flying off the shelves, a little closer examination is needed.

“Hats are worn by Orthodox Jewish women following the concept of Tzniut, which is Hebrew for modesty or humility in both dress and behavior. Orthodox women will opt for loose clothing in muted colors that do not draw attention, long-sleeve tops, skirts long enough to cover the knee while sitting and close-toed shoes,” Yahoo explains. “And in some traditional communities, women will wear a hat after marriage, especially at a synagogue or Holy site.”

So there you have it. In addition to being fashionably conscious, the Trumps are very conscious of social norms for the countries they are visiting. While that may seem like a small item in the grand scheme of them, it goes a long way towards helping them make a solid impression on the leaders they visit.
