Four-year-old fashion designer Mayhem’s creations are all posted on an Instagram account that her mother made for her.
Her most famous creation was made in February with construction paper, scissors and tape that was fashioned into a dress with the help of her mother, according to The Huffington Post.
J.Crew saw the Instagram page, and asked Mayhem to co-design a capsule collection for the spring 2015 Crewcuts collection.
“When we met with Mayhem for the first time we were really curious to see how she would work and were amazed to watch this barely 4-year-old girl start meticulously folding the pleats on a skirt and placing stones very specifically and carefully on a top she had just fashioned around herself,” Jenny Cooper, Head of Crewcuts Designs, told The Huffington Post.
Mayhem designed her own pieces using paper, gift wrap tape, jewels and other crafts. J.Crew’s design team them took those creations and turned them into pieces for the collection.
“She has such an inventive and creative personality that really resonated with us,” Cooper told The Huffington Post. “It was great to have a truly creative child be at the heart of the design process.”
