Ludacris, Nicki Minaj and More Heat Up BET’s Rip the Runway!

BET’s annual Rip the Runway fashion show went down at The Hammerstein Ballroom last night, with hosts Pooch Hall (”The Game”) and everyone’s favorite new rapstress, Nicki Minaj. The show also featured hot performances by Janelle Monae, Estelle, B.O.B.Soulja Boy and Roscoe Dash, Ludacris and Nicki Minaj and Trina.

Socialite Spotlight: Malik So Chic

Last night, the casts of America’s Next Top Model and other hit CW shows gathered together at secret location for their “Welcome to Reality” event. Fashion power-houses Tyra Banks and Andre Leon Talley, (the new judge on ANTM) were there in full effect, of course.

However, when browsing through the pics, an individual by the name of Malik So Chic definitely caught our attention. Every now and then, when looking through the party snapshots of New York events, we come across someone who makes us say “Who in the HELL is that and why are they on the red carpet?” Well, this was definitely one of those times. Apparently, he is a super event planner/fashionista/socialite, and is known for having a style that is somewhat of a cross between Andre Leon Talley and Pee Wee Herman.

LaQuan Smith’s Fashion Show Debut

We were in attendance for up and coming fashion designer LaQuan Smith’s first fashion show yesterday during fashion week. The fashion show was held in the Society of Illustrators building on the east side of Manhattan.

We were surprised when we found out that this was LaQuan Smith’s FIRST fashion show ever because the place was packed with notable people: from Misa Hylton and Diddy’s mother, to Vogue’s editor-at-large Andrea Leon who said:

I’m here to embrace an African-American designer for his debut, because we need that diversity in the fashion world. I embrace the American dream that he wants to be a fashion designer. You know Smith is sure to be big if the King of Fashion made time to take in the show. I said to my assistant, ‘Clear whatever I have to do Monday – I’ve got to go to that show.”

This 21-year-old self made fashion designer had the crowd floored as beautiful models showed of Smith’s couture designs which embodies class with its unique designs and extravagant colors. No wonder artists like Lady Gaga and Rihanna have already been seen wearing Smith’s designs in videos.

Last night, models, designers and stars from across the globe participated in “Fashion for Relief”, a fashion show organized by supermodel Naomi Campbell, that benefitted the crisis in Haiti. Celebrities such as Estelle, Chris Brown, supermodel, Sessilee Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Wendy Williams and more were spotted participating in the festivities.

NY Fashion Week has officially kicked off! Last Night, the Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection 2010 Runway Show took place in the Bryant Park tents. Fabulous women from Kimora Lee, Estelle, Jordin Sparks, Regina King, Raven Symone and Kim Kardashian are strutted down the runway for the good cause.

Reports say Raven Symone WORKED IT OUT on the runway and was the star of the show. Where has she been? Ever since That’s So Raven & Cheetah Girls been gone, we haven’t heard from her…Get it together Raven!

Celebs Mourn the Loss of Designer, Alexander McQueen

Yesterday, acclaimed fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, was found dead in his London home from an apparent suicide. A source that worked closely with McQueen at his office confirmed this, saying “It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.”

Celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Dita Von Teese and more have been known to rock McQueen’s designs on a regular basis, and have expressed their shock and condolences publicly.

Kanye West dedicated an entire blog post to the deceased designer with the title saying “MCQUEEN… SO DEVASTATING.. HE WAS A GENIUS… HE WAS SO IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL…. WE LOST AN ANGEL!”

Kelly Osbourne said via her twitter: “i am so so sad to hear the news of Lee (Alexander) McQueen! i really just dont know what say im really in shock.”

Singer, Estelle also added via her twitter: “rip. alexander mcqueen. truly creative genius. super dope. wow.”

Most recently Lady Gaga has also completely embraced McQueen’s signature style, as it definitely went hand in hand with her outrageous sense of fashion. The McQueen “Lobster Heels” can me seen showcased prominently in her “Bad Romance” video.

She also debuted this hit single at one of his fashion shows, which can be seen below.

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen. You will be missed.

DJ Chanel Iman on the 1s and 2s for H&M Collection Launch Party!

Last week, H&M threw an intimate party at Bobo to celebrate the launch of Sonia Rykiel’s H&M Spring 2010 collection, and supermodel, Chanel Iman, was spotted at the scene. She even hopped on the 1s and 2s! Who knew supermodels could DJ?

Naomi Campbell is probably on everyone’s list of favorite fashion models, and is just everything a model should be and more. The 39-year old supermodel has graced the covers of every magazine on newsstands today, and is now gracing the cover of LOVE magazine, on their fashion icon issue.

This woman gets better with age, and we ain’t mad at her! Naomi’s careers has spanned almost three decades, she is one of the only models of her generations still booking major campaigns. This cover is simply flawless!

This year the ladies of music pulled out all the stops, and we were very pleased with some of the looks of the night! Beyonce & Keri Hilson were our favorites of the evening by far, and they looked great in their nude base color gowns. We gotta be honest and say Keri Hilson took the night for best dressed. She looked very elegant and put together. Her stylist stepped it up big time.

There were a lot of hot messes on the red carpet, but were gonna keep it classy and positive. We just hope some of these artist step it for 2010. Its a new year ladies, set up your fashion game..

Young supermodel, Chanel Iman, is currently featured in a fashion spread for Vogue Spain, and this girl just can do no wrong. She is just shutting the game down left and right. She is everywhere and in every high fashion magazine and we love it! Get your money honey!

In every photo she is giving high fashion chic. The theme of this particular shoot was party dresses, and Chanel wore each one very well. We love this girl and we hope she continues killing the fashion game and branches out in the future.
