Event Recap: Heineken Red Star Soul Tour ft. Ludacris, Estelle, Wale & Nas

Over the weekend, ATF hit up the Heineken Red Star Show in NYC held @ Gotham Hall. This years headliners were Ludacris, Estelle and newcomer Wale, so you know we were excited. The Heineken sponsored concert brought out the “who’s who” in the media and entertainment world. The concert attendees ranged from Adrienne Bailon and Columbus Short to Tyson Beckford and Mario Lopez.

When we say everyone was there that is truly an understatement. That is what made the event more fun, because during breaks in performance we got the chance to mingle and network with some industry heavy weights.

The first person to hit the stage was DC’s own Wale. Most of the crowd didn’t know who he was but he made sure we would remember when he left that stage.

Wale’s performance was so not the best, he just left us wanting more. We will give him a pass because he is still pretty new to the game, but he better get it together fast. We barely could understand anything that was coming out of this man’s mouth. Check out the video below and you be the judge:

Estelle shut it down! That’s all we can really say about this fabulous female. She made a lot of new fans that night. Estelle is just so raw and uncut when she is on the stage. She just says whatever she wants out her mouth and we love it, and also picked some great songs during her set. At shows like this its best to just do your singles and call it a day. We love Estelle and she kept us entertained the entire time…

Lastly, Ludacris came on the stage and shut it down! He performed all of his hits, past and present, including “What’s Your Fantasy”, “Throw Them Bows” and more. Not only that, the highlight of the night was when he brought Nas on the stage to join him. Of course, you know the crowd went absolutely wild! Check out the footage below, via Defsounds:

Common + Maxwell on Stage= Magic + Concert Afterparty at Marquee

The time finally came—and went. Just that fast. Months ago we announced that Maxwell and Common teamed up to tour the nation, and their stop to NYC’s Madison Square Garden was last night! Unfortunately, ATF wasn’t in the building. But his album is a HIT, and we can only imagine how the performance was. Two of the sexiest, grown-mature looking men on stage? Common AND Maxwell? What in the world could beat that?

Chrisette Michele was the first artist to bless the stage with her beautiful voice, followed by the one and only Common who performed his hit singles, “Go”, “The People”, “The Light”, “Love of My Life”, he also covered ‘Yeezy’s,”Jesus Walks.”

After Common, Maxwell hit the stage in a 3 piece suit and had the ladies going wild. He covered most of the songs off his album, Blacksummersnight, and of course he touched on his old hits like “Sumthin’ Sumthin’.”

Judging by the pictures, looks like it was a great show. We also heard that by the end of the night, the stage was filled with panties from women in the audience. *Blank stare*

ATF Interviews Fab Man: Marc Clark

AllThatsFab.com loves showcasing creative, driven, and inspiring young men. Our latest edition to the Fab Men is fashion designer Marc Clark, and he embodies all three of those traits. The rising accessories and apparel designer has been seen all over the NYC fashion scene. His infamous bow tie brooch has been worn by songstress Estelle, ANTM’s Jaslene Gonzalez, etc. Marc Clark is a man that letting folks know, “Fu*k what people think, be yourself and put your style on cruise on control and let your fashion evolve”.

ATF: So let’s get this started man.

Marc Clark: Yeah I’m ready.

ATF: What inspires you to do what you do?

MC: Creativity, and my deep desire to be innovative. Since as long as I can remember I have always had a love for art and was inspired by beautiful things (laughs), In fact I have a weakness for beautiful things. This appreciation for art and beauty has fueled my passion for designing fashion.

ATF: Another thing that must inspire you has to be other people in fashion. So who are some of your fashion icons?

MC: There are a few individuals in the world of fashion that can be considered Icons, however the ones that have inspired me the most will be honored in my inaugural launch of Fashion Icon t-shirts as part of my fall/winter 09′ Collection. This season I am honoring Anna Wintour, Grace Jones, Andre Leon Tally, and Valentino.

ATF: Those are some big role models mister.

MC: Yeah I was really inspired by those innovative people.

ATF: So how did you come up with these bow ties?

MC: “It was all a dream!” (laughs) It was actually inspired by a very vivid dream I had where recoding artist Lady Gaga was wearing a bowtie that I created. I have always been a big fan of bowties, but never before designed one. I thought it a very novel and classic fashion piece, so I took some canvas and designed my first prototype bowtie. I played with the design for a quite a while until I perfected it, and turned it into what you see today.

ATF: Cool. I know you did not just pick up a pencil and start sketching, what is some of your background in fashion?

MC: Prior to launching Marc C. in April 2009, I was a co-creator and Director of Marketing / Relations for a boutique clothing company with designs in over 50+ stores nationwide. Prior to that, while attending college, I was the director of numerous fashion shows in Universities throughout the Maryland Metropolitan area, and Creative Director of a non-profit organization called, Teen’s Count, which held an annual High School Fashion battle show sponsored by local radio stations and national television networks.

ATF: You aren’t new to the game at all (laughs). Speaking of your collection, tell us three people you would love to rock your designs?

MC: That’s a hard question, because I want everyone with style and sophistication to rock my designs. Three people who stand out to me who I see rocking my designs are Marc Jacobs, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga, because they have impeccable fashion, and a great sense of style!

ATF: Success, Love, or Money if you had to choose one, which would it be?

MC: In the words of Lady Gaga “That’s a ridicules question; I would rather cut my leg off than choose!” I choose Success, Love and Money, because all three contribute to keeping me happy, which fuels my inspiration as a designer.

ATF: Good answer man, we love Lady Gaga at AllThatsFab.com. So how would you define FASHION?

MC: Fashion to me is about innovation, about wearing your personality on the outside. Not being afraid, display character and takes risks. Fuck what people think, be yourself and put your style on cruise on control and let your fashion evolve.

ATF: That phrase needs to sold and placed on your next t-shirt.

MC: Maybe it will you never know (laughs)

ATF: What made you want to live in NYC?

MC: NYC is the home of my passion. As cliché as it sounds NYC is the fashion Capital of the World, and this is where I need to be at this point in my career.

ATF: You have describe what fashion is to you, now describe your personal style in 4 Words…

MC: Exclusive, Confident, Risky and Masculine

ATF: What is your favorite thing about your line?

MC: I love the fact that its is daring. It’s the embodiment of dreams of hard work and perseverance. It’s like my first child being born. I have nurtured it cared for it and now it will see the world for the first time.

ATF: I noticed one of our past Fab Men , Chavis Aaron, was a model for your bow tie campaign, what was special about Chavis Aaron, How does he embody your vision?

MC: Chavis Aaron is just one of many models I work with. He has a unique look, which is the signature statement of my fashion line, and the reason why he is the male face of the Marc C. Fall/Winter 09′ Collection.

ATF: Cool Cool, so what designers do you respect?

MC: Raf Simons, Martin Margiela, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Betsey Johnson, and Jeremy Scott.

ATF: Now how did you get the fashion maven Estelle to rock piece from your collection?

MC: Estelle is an amazingly artistic individual, who took a liking to the Marc C. Bowtie Brooch. It was a refreshing feeling seeing her rocking my design.

ATF: Estelle is so unique and original, any designer should be happy to see her in their stuff. Do you like designing for women or men better?

MC: I do not have a preference; I have created a unisex line of bow tie brooches. I design fashion forward designs for everyone, so if it appeals to a guy or a girl, I’m flattered at the end of the day.

ATF: Where does your creativity come from?

MC: My creativity is innate. I was born with it. It’s driven by the things I see around me. I find something unique in everything from an ant on the ground to a model on the runway.

I’m not really a club guy. You’ll typically catch me an event, lounge, and small gathering with friends.

Favorite NYC eatery:
I fucking love Sea in Williamsburg Brooklyn. If you have never been there, I strongly suggest you check it out.

Favorite NYC designers:
Marc C. Duh! (Laughs)

Favorite Piece in your line:
Everything is my Favorite! Considering I narrowed down my designs from 25 to the final 14 designs, I consider all them my favorite. They all have a special meaning to me.

Favorite thing to do besides design:
Outside of designing I love to travel with my rock star Jack Russell Terrier Tre. We are very adventurous. If you see us in the park, don’t be afraid to speak!

Rihanna vs Estelle + Rih Rih Digs Golden Krust

Our favorite short hair fashionistas, Rihanna and Estelle, are two very unique artists. Rihanna is more of a fashion icon than musician while Estelle is more respected for her craft and voice. With Jay-Z’s new single “Run This Town” hitting the radio and internet, here is what Estelle had to say:

“I would have smashedthe hook Rihanna just doesn’t do it for me.”-Estelle.

Twitter is letting us really get to know our favorite stars. We love the new single, but we could do without Rihanna on the hook. She was probably just placed on the record because of her history with Jay-Z & Kanye West. Estelle would have took the track to a whole different level..

Estelle is trying to say that she didn’t tweet this for the world to see, she is pointing the finger at someone else in her camp…But we believe she feels this way. This is probably how a lot of female artists feel about the songstress.

Rihanna was also spotted in New York after eating at Caribbean fast food restaurant, Golden Krust. You know that girl is Caribbean, so its not a surprise! This place is like an urban New York City staple, and if you haven’t been there, you must not have been in NYC long enough!

Sidebar: What is that on her head? Feeling the shoes, but the headpiece…O_o

Cassie Steals the Show @ Louis Vuitton Event

Last night, Cassie attended the Louis Vuitton Celebration The 40th Anniversary Of The Lunar Landing rocking an eye catching outfit and a remixed version of her new haircut. Say what you want about her, she definitely knows how to stand out in a crowd!

There were other beautiful, fabulous females there, including Estelle, a pregnant Adriana Lima and countless models, but Miss Cassie Ventura was the most photographed of them all, and with reason. She my not be as famous as the other ladies, but she knows what she’s doing.

The question still remains, are we feeling Cassie’s look last night, or do you think she’s trying too hard to make a statement? Regardless, it doesn’t look as though she’s giving up the new cut any time soon.

DJ Cassidy Birthday Party Sponsored by Sprite Green

We always look forward to DJ Cassidy’s birthday party, because in our opinion he throws the greatest birthday bash every year. Last year DJ Cassidy celebrated his 27th birthday at Cipriani, and this past Wednesday he chose an even better venue, The New York Public Library. It was a star studded night, Jay-Z, Nas, Funkmaster Flex, Bobby Brown, and many other notable celebs were in the building.I got there extra early because I knew the door was going to get crazy, and of course I made the mistake of standing in the wrong line… by the time I realized I wasn’t in the “Press Line”, it was a MAD HOUSE. People were trying to push their way in past security guards, others were yelling “IM ON THE LIST!, and I even saw a little fight break out. Even with all the drama outside, I knew this wasn’t a party I wanted to miss, so I stayed patient and finally found my way in after about an hour.

The set up was gorgeous, and the crowd was nice. I was mad to see that the place wasn’t even packed and so many people that WERE on the list were stuck outside. I swear at these events, sometimes the guards make it seem so much bigger than it is. Anyway, drinks were provided by Sprite Green and Belvedere (same as last year). I absolutely loved how the drinks were named after popular Michael Jackson songs like “PYT” and “Smoot Criminal“. I was on Smooth Criminal all night. And they were serving my new favorite snack, Peanut Butter and marshmallow sandwiches!

I walked in behind Estelle, and shortly after I entered the venue, Jay-Z and Nas came through, so did singer Shantelle, BJ Coleman, Bobby Brown, DJ Webstar, and of course…what’s a good party without the Retro Kidz?

Bobby Brown made a random performance, which wasn’t so bad! He performed all of his hits and the crowd was going wild. Rakim’s performance also had the crowd going wild.

Around 1:30AM, Funkmaster Flex came through and played Michael Jackson hits. I spotted DJ Cassidy and O’Neil Mcknight doing their MJ moves. Pure comedy!

Overall, everyone appeared to be having a great time. Jay-Z was bobbin’ his head to the music and laughing with friends, while Malinda Williams danced on top of couches, and Micah Jesse and I did the moonwalk. Good Times!

Expect surprises everytime you see a performance at SOBS! There was no surprise when we scanned through pictures of last night’s John Legend concert only to see that Rick Ross, Estelle, Vaughn Anthony, and Ryan Leslie made a special appearance and had the crowd going wild. According to Str8nyc.com, Rick Ross got choked up and forgot his lines to the 2nd verse of “Mangificent”. Ah well, get off the weed Ross!…

Last Night in NYC – Chrisette Michelle, Jay-Z and More

Chrisette Michele had a somewhat last minute album release party last night at Mansion aka M2, and Ginuwine, Joe and more showed up. (Speaking of Ginuwine, he’s making a comeback, and we also had a change to go to his listening session as well. More on that later.)

In case you haven’t heard, Chrisette Michele also beat out Ciara and Hannah Montana to gain the #1 spot on the charts this week for her sophomore album, “Epiphany“! Congrats to her! That’s major. More on the album release party plus Jay-Z, T.I. and more celebs attend Lyor Cohen’s Audi event when you read the rest.

Day 26 and Dawn showed up at Chrisette Michele’s event. We like them here at All That’s Fab, as they always just seem “Happy to be here”.

Recap: Belvedere Black Raspberry Launch ft. Estelle

Last night, All That’s Fab had the privilege of attending an exclusive launch event for Belvedere’s newest Macerated vodka - Belvedere Black Raspberry. Not only that, but we also got a chance to have some one on one time with Estelle, who hosted the event. Check out pics from the event, our recap and Estelle’s interview after the jump.

The beautiful people came out to a special pop-up space in SOHO last night to enjoy the complimentary Belvedere Vodka and rub elbows with Estelle and Jonathan Kelsey. Kelsey, a notable fashion and accessories designer, designed the bag for the brand that I was drooling over all evening. (See photo below)

Aside from there being complimentary cocktails, there were also video tutorials and mixologists on hand to teach the attendees about maceration. Very nice touch!

After 2 drinks and about an hour into the event, Estelle walked in and stole the show. Even with all of the craziness, we got a chance to chat with her about her cute outfit, her limited edition bag, and how she got involved with the brand. Check it out below:

Solange Performs @ AOL Blackvoices

I don’t know many people that are not feeling Solange Knowles right now. She recently performed a few songs off her latest album, Sol-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams, on AOL Blackvoices. Solange is on her grind right now touring with Estelle all over the US. I am not really a fan of her performing style sometimes, she seems like she is on something. But overall Solange is my girl, make sure you cop her new album in stores now. Solange is so not to be slept on!
