What to Wear Friday: Fashion Show Edition

For all you fashionistas out there and their “+1’s”, this week’s What to Wear Friday is especially for you. Fashion shows are amazing chances to see art come to life on the runway, but the seats are usually filled with more trends than in the show. The audience at a fashion show is the right place to find new fashion ideas and where you can also test the waters with your personal style. There are always photographers snapping pictures — not to mention, the many fashionistas that come together for shows. So if you’re in fashion, this is not the function to fade into the background. This week we have your guide to being best dressed off the runway.

Gaga Screams for McQueen!

Lady Gaga has yet again blessed us with her unique fashion sense in her new video for single “Bad Romance” off her Fame Monster album. The aesthetics for the video are gaudy, as expected, but it’s the fashion that takes over from the beginning. A big fan of Alexander McQueen, Gaga has been photographed out in several different looks by the designer — she brings his Spring 2010 collection into fruition in this video. Alexander McQueen is best known for his eclectic style and his 10-inch “Lobster Heels” definitely set the bar on extreme high-fashion. Of course, the shoes will be toned down so they are wearable and functional and can be sold in retail, but would women really wear these? What do you think of the fierce, yet dangerous footwear?

Chanel Iman for H&M…So Fab!

Chanel Iman is just becoming a brand all on her own now. This girl is just everywhere, and her range is crazy!. There aren’t many high fashion models that can cross over into mainstream markets. Looks like Tyra Banks was right about her being the next big thing.

Chanel is one of the new faces of H&M for their fall campaign, and we have to give her kudos for this. H&M is a big brand and its just getting bigger from here. We don’t know one person that doesn’t own something from H&M in their closet.

Chanel Iman Is Killing It! (New Photo Shoot for Deutsch Magazine)

Chanel Iman is just shutting down the modeling industry one photo shoot at a time. This chick is really unstoppable! The skinny supermodel recently did a kinky little shoot for Deutsch Magazine, and we just love the shots of her in the platinum blond wig…SO FAB!

Chanel has come a long way since Tyra Banks introduced her a couple years ago on The Tyra Show.

Chanel Iman is a bad chick. She has also been officially named a Victoria’s Secret model, which will undoubtedly give her career a major push. (Although, she may need to gain some weight before we see her on the cover of Sports Illustrated )

Trey Songz Speaks On the “Invented Sex” Porno…Um Video

Trey Songz recently released a video for his track “Invented Sex“, which was definitely reminiscent of a Cinemax soft-core porno. He has been getting a lot of praise and flack at the same time for the video, because of his predominantly young, female fan base. We love the video because it shows a new side of the newly crowned “R&B Sex Symbol“.

Trey had this to say in defense of the sexy video:

“I wanted it to be sexy, adult, everybody having fun in the video,” Songz speaking of Say Aah. “The song speaks on more so a club atmosphere, but the video is more lofty – sexy women all over the place, adults having fun. This one lady in particular, she’s representing the independent women without taking it over the top. She’s got her own. She takes me back to her crib so we invent sex together.”

“It’s very sensual,” said Trey. “The idea I had, it came from a banned Calvin Klein ad. It was a dude and two girls and they was touching and kissing. I was like, ‘Man, I wanna do that.’ We didn’t go all the way there. I didn’t have two girls, we simulated best we could, and it’s more sensual than raunchy.”

“It’s a groove record,” Songz added. “It’s got that knock at the same time. It’s sexy at the same time. Conceptually, it’s mind-blowing to tell a woman, you gonna think we invented sex when we’re done.’ That’s where I am.

Lady Gaga has finally released a video for her latest single, “Bad Romance“, from the album “The Fame Monster“. This woman is a true artist and visionary. She makes these videos turn into art.

The video took a lot of time and money, you can tell with every image. Lady Gaga is screaming fashion throughout the entire video. Alexander McQueen was her right hand man, she is the first celebrity to rock his outrageous new shoe line…

We LOVE Lady Gaga…Next up is the epic video for “Video Phone” for Beyonce. We can’t wait for that. Bey better come hard!

Recession Proof with Payless and Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano, the Project Runway alum, debuted his Spring 2010 shoe collection for get this – Payless! Ankle booties, pumps and Mary Janes in shades of sand and blue were all over his runway and featured everything from straps to buckles to sequins. The line will be sold at Payless, who will tone the shoes down for the mass market, but big cities like NYC and LA will have original designs. Siriano also has a new book out Fierce Style, which is an autobiography/memoir and how-to (style tips, of course!) of fashion. This 23-year old was introduced to the world through reality TV, but he has a lot of experience and credibility within this industry, having worked with bigtimers like Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Be on the look out for this rising star, 15 minutes doesn’t seem to be enough for him.

Lil’ Kim has been looking better than ever lately. The #1 female in the rap game has been bashed for the past few years about all her plastic surgeries and outrageous outfits, but we think the Queen B has finally pulled it all together. Guess “Dancing With The Stars” has rubbed off on her a lot. This photo shoot is a amazing. You Go Kim!

Lil Kim is currently overseas on a tour and working on a new album with Polow Da Don, Akon, and Timbaland.

In 2009, Zoe Saldana has recently emerged as a style icon in her own right. The starlet has been seen on almost every red carpet from this years BET Awards to Elle’s Women in Hollywood scene and with each and every appearance, she has dazzled and looked phenomenal. Her classy, elegant style at times channels old Hollywood, but she brings a fun, youthful presence to every ensemble.
