Jennifer Hudson Returns To The Big Screen

Singer/Actress Jennifer Hudson will return to the big screen as Winnie Mandela in the movie Winnie. Winnie Mandela was Nelson Mandela’s wife when he became President of South Africa in 1994, but they separated two years later when rumors were going around that she had cheated on Nelson after he came out of prison. She is currently a South African politician. The movie should start production May 30th in the South African locations of Johannesburg, Cape Town, and the Transkei and Robben Island. Jennifer Hudson had this to say:

“I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Hudson said. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”

VH1 Divas 2009….FAIL

We were very unimpressed with this years line-up for VH1’s Divas. Do they really consider Miley Cyrus a Diva? However, we were pleased to see powerhouses Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, and Adele perform. Those women are true vocalist.

This years ceremony was held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The show was hosted by Paula Abdul, who actually did a pretty good job. Our girl Nene Leakes of Real Housewives of Atlanta also presented. Overall, this years show left us wanting more. There should have referred to our Divas picks.

Beyonce has to be one of the most praised, envied, and hated women on the planet. It seems like everyone has something to say about her in one way shape of form. Nia Long even joined the bandwagon, which is shocking because no one has heard from her in years.

“If you’re a singer not an actress, you should sing. If you’re a rapper, you should rap,” “If you take time to develop your craft, God bless you. Jamie Foxx is an example of both [actor and singer].”

“I didn’t see ‘Obsessed,’ so I can’t comment, but it’s just not about how talented you are anymore. It’s about, ‘How much box-office revenue will this person generate?’ When you see certain people – we won’t name names – they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes,’”

“If you were able to take all the Black actresses and the choices we’ve made collectively, it’s a pure reflection of what you see on film. People need to work. But the content? The opportunities for Black actresses are more widespread today, but the quality has suffered.”

VH1 Divas Returns in September!

Wow this is music to our ears, Vh1’s Divas is back! If you don’t remember Divas, it’s when all the women of the past, present, and future salute one another. This was always a must-see, you never knew what women were gonna take the stage. It’s such a dope sight to strong talented females being honored for their achievements. But the question is who will take the stage this year? We thought they were done because they ran out of divas. VH1 can’t even answer the question, so they are asking the fan to decide. Read what VH1 had to say after the jump…

“We would love for listeners to weigh in on who would make a great Divas participant. What does the term “diva” mean to you in 2009? Someone heroic? Someone inspiring? Hit the comments field and lets us know. A very pregnant Jennifer Hudson and her fiancee David “Punk” Otunga is pictured above leaving KFC. According to some internet sources she is seven months pregnant and does not want to know the sex of her baby. Her belly is bigggggg, and she looks like she is ready to drop any day now. Congrats to the wonderful couple.

J. Hud Opens Up In The June ‘09 Essence Magazine

Jennifer Hudson covers the new June 2009 issue of Essence Magazine. She opens up about her memories with her mother as a child and her love for David Otunga aka Punk from “I Love New York“. She tells Essence about her mom:

“I was always a mama’s baby, I’d go and sleep in her bed until I was 15 years old.”

Punk, I mean David tells Essence the couple does not talk about the devastating murder of her mother, brother and nephew. But he makes it known that she “doesn’t have to worry about losing…” him; he’s ”always going to be right here.” David also got permission from Hudson’s mother to purpose.

“I love that. And he is such a gentlemen, like, I sit in the car waiting because I can’t touch the door. I am not allowed!” says Jennifer.

Im so happy for the couple.

There have been reports floating around the internet that Jennifer Hudson is pregnant…Two sources close to the artist says that she is indeed preggers, but her manager and publicist both deny. I was wondering why she was wearing that top during her tour performance. I just figured her behind was getting larger, but I am happy for her and Punk. She definitely deserves some happiness. Jennifer Hudson cruised by The Ellen Degeneres Show yesterday and performed “If This Isn’t Love”. The two seater bike in the photo is Ellen’s gift to Jennifer and soon-to-be hubby David Otunga (formerly known as Punk from Vh1’s I Love NY). When I first found out she was dating him, I think I fell out of my chair from laughter but this thing is real y’all and we’re glad to see she’s doing well.
