Friday Music Review: Jeremih, Kid Cudi, Monica & More

Its Friday and we would like to give you some of our favorite videos and new music that debuted this week. From Kid Cudi’s “Poke her face” to Beyonce’s “Ice Cream Truck”, this has been an exciting week for music .

Jeremih lets us get a sneak peak into his new video for his second single “Imma Star (Everywhere We Are)” off of his self titled album.

The concept of the video is him going from rags to riches. I especially love this girl in the video “Shuga” which is played by video chick Crystal, she does a great job on her ghettofabulousness (lol).

Monica is returning to the music business and she is coming back stronger than ever. She has grown a lot since her “Miss Thang” days..Monica is the mother of two now, so her music has matured a lot. This time around she teamed up with Missy Elliot again on a track called “Lemme Know“. The track was written by talented Jazmine Sullivan. The new album is called Still Standing, which is named after her upcoming reality show on BET. We have been waiting a while for Monica to release another album, but she has the tendency to go years between musical projects….

Left and right Beyonce tracks are always getting leaked. Now this track should have stayed in the closet. “Ice Cream Truck” is a song that was most likely left off the I Am… Sasha Fierce album. The lyrics and production are very weak, and that’s a surprise coming from this perfectionist. The meaning of the song is cute, but we are so glad it didn’t make the album. Overall its a cute song, but not for someone of Beyonce’s caliber.

Kid Cudi’s “Poke Her Face” “Make Her Say” has been getting a lot of play in NYC for the past few months. Kid Cudi finally shot a video for the hit single, and damn is Common looking good or what ladies?

Myko has been spotted in various major cities with his label Outta Pocket Entertainment owner, Thomas Jones (NY Jets), and we hear he’s been in the studio HARD. Well, Myko got on the auto-tune and dropped his single “Crazy“. This song would sound “Crazy” (in a good way) in the clubs. Check it out:

Our favorite up and coming female group, Sophia Fresh, dropped a HOT single this week! This has been on repeat on the ipod for days. “What it is” ft Kanye West is on the list for our summer hit.

And finally, the song everyone has been anticipating for quite some time, Jay-Z ft. Rihanna and Kanye West, “Run This Town”. Word on the street was that Drake was initially going to be on Jay’s first single, but clearly that didn’t happen lol. Check it out below. (Kanye absolutely rips it!)

“Jeremih Visits fuse’s “No. 1 Countdown”

Jeremih has been making his mark here in NYC. Here he is spotted at Fuse’s ‘No. 1 Countdown” where he discussed his upcoming album and his experiences as a Def Jam artist. Everyone seems to believe that Def Jam is behind making Jeremih such a good artist, but the truth is that Jeremih partnered with fellow student Mick Schultz from Columbia College, and the duo wrote and produced the self titled album, which was then reportedly snapped up by Def Jam at the time of his signing (SOURCE).

New R&B hearthrob, Jeremih, has dropped his new single, “Imma Star“. We aren’t so surprised that it’s not as catchy as “Birthday Sex“, but it still looks like this 21 year old cutie has a good future in music. His album is expected to drop June 30th, we’ll be on the look out for that.

This weekend ATF got a chance to see Jeremih “Birthday Sex” music video and it was very sexy. The video has strawberries and cherries with whip cream, blindfolds, and different positions. This was great and Jeremih looks damn good as well. I wonder what his next single will be. hmmm

Events: Island Def Jam’s Spring Collection Showcase

Last night in NYC, L.A. Reid hosted the annual Island Def Jam’s Spring Collection. This event is held in order to showcase new Def Jam artists and celebrate the achievements of current ones. The party was held at the Stephen Weiss Studio here in New York City. It appears that Rihanna was the star of the night, as she was recently certified 12-times platinum! (And this was the girl people thought was going to be a one-hit wonder.) The room seemed like it was filled with pure excitement and joy, and Rihanna looked amazing as usual. The hair choice is a little different though…we guess it was her version of a “mushroom cut”. You can check out more pics and the Def Jam new signees after the jump..

New Music: Jeremih ft. Fabolous “Birthday Sex” (Remix)

The original version of this song by Chicago native, Jeremih, has been getting some MAJOR burn on the radio and in the clubs in NYC, and he just enlisted Fabolous to jump on the remix. (Is Fab like the obvious go to guy for R&B remixes nowadays?)
