NY Rappers Trouble With The Law

We all know rapper Shyne is out of jail may be deported, but now rapper Jim Jones has pleaded guilty to a December 2008 incident at the NY Louis Vuitton store when he punched singer Ne-Yo’s friend, Jayvon Smith in the face. Jones was sentenced to serve a few hours in jail, which he already served apparently when he first was in custody of the police, but it does not end there for this situation. Smith now has a $7 million lawsuit filed against Jones, so let’s see how that turns out.

The next rapper in trouble is Method Man who owes the NY State $32,799 from not paying state income taxes between 2004 and 2007. He turned himself into the custody of police, but was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 9. He can get up to four years in jail. Not a good look.

Asher Roth, Jim Jones, and Mad Decent were among the few celebrities to compete against eachother in a basketball tournament yesterday in Manhattan. Converse was sponsoring the event and had some beautiful models posted around the court wearing converse outfits. Rosa Acosta was spotted looking quite fab in her Converse gear.

Unfortunately, ATF was not in attendance. But judging by Asher Roth’s and Jim Jone’s upbeat personality alone, this had to be a comical event.

Look who TMZ spotted together last night at the Black Eyed Peas and Target event at The Griffin right here in New York. Drake, you’re out there looking like a deer caught in headlights. That’s a bit close for two people who are just “working together”. We guess only time will tell.

Here at ATF we get a kick out of the whole Dipset crew, you never know what their crazy behinds are going to do next. Dipset’s Jim Jones and Juelz Santana appeared in a video alongside DJ Webstar, for his song Dancing On Me (which we LOVE!). The video is hilarious especially the parody of Beyonce’s Single Ladies video. They also have Damon Dash’s son Boogie on the turntables.

Are they still beefing with Jay-Z? Dipset making videos while Jay-Z is making money in his sleep. Who is the clear winner? You let us know…

Not So Fab: Jim Jones due in Court 6/4

Jim Jones pleaded not guilty to assaulting a 17-year-old boy during a concert while visiting Florida in March.
The rapper is accused by Damion Johns of assaulting him during an ‘MTV Spring Break’ performance in which Johns alleges the rapper told him to move out of the way and then assaulted him.

Jim Jones has a separate court date, June 4th, in New York in relation to a separate assault charge in which he allegedly got into a brawl with NeYo’s manager Jayvon Smith at a Louis Vuitton.

No wonder everytime we get invited to a Jim Jones party they ask that we bring our ATF Bullet Proof Vest.

Trey Songz is back! I am so geeked about Trey Songz’s new album, Ready, coming out soon. The R&B crooner has recently released this viral video for his unofficial single, Brand New. The video iss very low budget, but who cares? The song is fire! He had a lot of celebs up in his video, which is always a good look. Angel Lola Luv, Jim Jones, Fat Joe, Young Jeezy, etc. all make quick cameos in the video. I just hope this album blows him up. You can catch the video after the jump..

Who’s Album Did Better? Keri Hilson or Jim Jones

Both Keri Hilson and Jim Jones album dropped last week, but now the numbers are in and Keri has beat out Jim Jones at selling 94,000 copies of “In A Perfect World”, making her number 4 on the BIllboard 200 list. Jim has sold 43,000 copies of “Pray IV Reign”, which made him number 9 on the list, but it still has him in the top ten. Take at listen at each artists’ singles:

RECAP: Jim Jones Album Release Party @ Suzie Wongs

ATF was in the house for Jim Jones Album Release Party for “Pray IV Reign”Tuesday night at Suzie Wongs and I must say the party was popping. When we got there Jim Jones did not arrive yet, but we saw stars like DJ Webstar, Raekwon, Busta and Beenie Man. Brucie B was on the ones and twos, and he was playing music all the way back from the 90’s to current. Also rapper Huey was on the mic rapping. A lot of females were there stunting and the fellaz were definitely popping bottles (which started at S450 a bottle). But as the night got closer we realized that Jim Jones was not even going to show up, but he did end up in his studio on 28^th street working on Freaky Zeaky’s new album.

But before Jones could even party it up…he was in Manhattan Criminal Court for beating up a friend of Ne-Yo at the fifth avenue Louis Vuitton store last year. Jones is on trail to fight these charges; he rejected an offer of 10 days of community service, (which is not a bad plea). Ne-Yo’s friend named Jayvon Smith is also suing Jones for $7 million…..

Jones also made an appearance that afternoon at Virgin Megastore in Union Square to sign copies of the new album. He is also having another album release party tonight at Plumm.
