MTV has begun taping a new reality show based on the lives of Compound (and Compound University’s) roster of talent. The show, titled The Grind, is being produced by Russell Simmons and Stan Lathan and should air sometime next year.

Compound Entertainment will be holding auditions for its new girl group here in NYC.

Rihanna Season Has Begun + Drake is a Rihanna Stan

We are seeing an overload of Rihanna already in the past couple weeks. This woman has been on everything you can think of. Her publicist is a beast, because we went from not hearing from Rihanna in 8 months to wanting her being bombarded with Rihanna News.

The reigning Pop Princess made a stop at MTV to discuss everything from her upcoming album to the Chris Brown saga. Are we the only ones who would just like to move pass this whole domestic violence thing? Rihanna first appearance was on “Its One with Alexa Chung” (man do we dislike Alexa Chung). RiRi appeared to be in very good spirits throughout the entire interview. This has to be one of her best interviews to date. 106 & Park needs to take some notes.

Rihanna looked marvelous last night at the Glamour Women of The Year Gala.
We are still trying to get used to this whole blond hair thing. We are fans of the jet black short hair cut, but she does have to switch it up from time to time. We are wondering why she received such a big honor and she hasn’t really done much this year.

We know you all remember those rumors that Rihanna & Drake were getting it poppin earlier this year. Well Drake is showing his girl Rihanna some support by talking about her upcoming album, Rated R, to Rap-Up.
We still think these two would make a very cute couple. They give off that Jay-Z & Beyonce vibe…
Here is what Drizzy Drake had to say about Rihanna’s new material:

“Rihanna has a great album, she’s got great records that she’s using, she’s got great records that she’s not even using that she has for a later date. I’m excited for her. She deserves everything that she gets.”

Drake also speaks on the Russian Roulette single..

“It’s a cool little record. I don’t know if personally that’s the route I would’ve gone for a single choice, I can only say that because I’ve been around and heard the music that she’s coming with other than that record.”
“We all make personal choices. It’s like the same way I shot a certain type of video for ‘Best I Ever Had.’ Maybe that’s where she’s at emotionally right now. I think if I heard it in the mix with the other ones, I would probably find more appreciation for it as opposed to it being the only thing that people are hearing from her right now after so long.”

“We did do some great work together and hopefully it’ll find it’s place on some project one day. The record we have is great. It’s a special record, so for it not to make it, I know something had to click. It’s all good. I think the project’s gonna be great no matter what. There’s been so much media attention swirling around her, that in order for her to get back to the music, she couldn’t have any ties to any of the stuff that’s been going on. I think she just wants to start fresh.”

Beyonce Shuts Down The EMAs!

Our girl Beyonce shut down the MTV European Music Awards last night in Berlin, Germany…Bey took home Best Female Artist, Best Song for “Halo” , and Best Video for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”. She also had the best performance of the night, she hit the stage to perform “Sweet Dreams” wearing nothing but some sexy red one piece .

*This should hold you over until her highly anticipated yet postponed “Video Phone” video comes out with Lady Gaga.

But the highlight of the night was her acceptance speech when she won Best Video…

“There is only one person I would like to Thank…and that’s Jay for putting a ring on it” – Says Beyonce

Our mouths hit the floor! What is it about Europe that makes celebs so damn comfortable? Or maybe she was throwing a couple drinks back after her performance.

Shyne Just Can’t Win…

It seems as though the name “Shyne” was in everyone’s mouths today, as Tuesday, October 6th was the proposed date for the release of the rapper from serving 9 years of his 10 year sentence. However, earlier today, we learned that this so-called release was put on hold, as the rapper is was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Western New York State.

Currently, according to Global Grind, Shyne will be deported by this Friday, and US Immigration & Customs have given his family 24 hours to see Shyne before he is sent back to Belize. (His father is the prime minister of the country). We’ll wait until the official report before we believe that this is definite.

If you remember, Shyne was originally sentenced to 10 years in jail after being involved in a shooting with Diddy at a New York City nightclub.

Jay-Z Defends His “Little Brother” Kanye

Kanye West has been having a pretty bad week as a result of his actions during this year’s MTV VMAs. (You know what we’re talking about). In fact, even President Obama has weighed in on the situation, calling ‘Ye a “Jackass”.

However, he has since apologized several times, and we feel that he is truly sorry and didn’t mean any harm. We all know he’s a very passionate person that sometimes doesn’t think before he says or does certain things; yet, people are practically burning him at the stake.

In regard to West’s behavior, Kanye’s “big brother” Jay-Z finally gave his two cents, and said that of course it was “rude”, but added: “He didn’t kill anybody”.

“Of course it was rude because it was her moment but that’s the way he really felt.”

“I think it was rude but the way they’re treating him… He’s on the cover of every paper. He didn’t kill anybody. No one got harmed.”

Jay is right. ‘Ye apologized about 4 times already. The media just needs to give it a rest. True, certain memes and blogs are hilarious, but we’re all pretty much over it.

Jay-Z Breaks Elvis’ Record + Alicia Keys Speaks on the Lil’ Mama “Incident”

Congratulations are in order to Jay-Z for selling over 475,000 units in first week. After having 11 #1 albums, he has officially broken Elvis’ record of having 10 #1 albums by a solo artist. You can’t deny that hip hop is OFFICIALLY pop music, and Jay-Z is having the “Best Week Ever”.

Alicia Keys surprised the ladies of “Today Show” by stopping by and talking about her new single, “Doesn’t Mean Anything”. After trying to ignore the Kathy Lee’s questions about the VMAs after several attempts, she finally breaks down and gives her thoughts on Lil’ Mama interrupting her and Jay-Z’s performance.

“We could appreciate her being overwhelmed and inspired, but we would have preferred she did it from her seat.”

And in case you missed it, check out Lil’ Mama explaining her reasoning behind her stage invasion below. She basically claims that she was caught up in the moment and was celebrating Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s performance.

“I was feeling it. I was definitely caught up in the moment. He was backing up and when I got home I realized he said “Oh So You gonna T-Pain it huh?”. I realize this now that I am home that he walked away. Now that I’m home, I’m like “wow, Jay-z wasn’t feeling that. Jay-z feels like I disrespected him as opposed to praising him. Respecting him, honoring him and sharing that moment with him. I would never get up there and try to disrespect Jay-z or take a moment that someone has created it and try to relive it. I’m too original for that and I respect him too much for that.”

*Blank stare*

Girl BYE! What made her think that it was okay to just jump on stage and take over someone’s performance? Just because you’re from BROOKLYN and host an MTV show doesn’t mean a thing.

We bet Lil’ Mama has learned her lesson now, as she has definitely been the butt of jokes for the past three days.

Wow…Just wow. Check out this video of Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift as she accepts her award for “Best Female Video” at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. A-mazing. Watch as he grabs the mic and says:

“With all due respect, Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!”

We can’t believe that really happened! Was this real or fake? Was Kanye in the wrong for this?
In Kanye’s defense, he was sippin’ on a bottle of Henny while he was on the red carpet. SMH
