Vh1’s Upcoming Reality Show: Basketball Wives

There’s a new reality show coming up that I’m sure a majority of us women will be interested in watching. No, it’s not Flavor of Love or any kind of battle for love, but a reality show starring wives (and x-wives) of professional basketball players.

At first glance we thought Basketball Wives was going to be a similar show like “Housewives of Atlanta” where it shows women living the extravagant life. But according to the press release VH1 revealed, the show isn’t only going to cover the glitz and glamor of living the life as a NBA players’ wife:

The wives of star athletes form one of the most unique and exclusive groups of women in the world. You only have to look as far as the nearest headlines to see what sort of pressure they are up against to keep their relationships and their families together. These women truly have a strength formed by fire. We are thrilled that they are allowing us into their lives to see things through their lens and understand why their friendships and bonds make them a force to be reckoned with.”

The cast includes wives and ex-wives of NBA superstars including Jennifer Williams (wife of Eric Williams), Evelyn Lozada (ex-fiancé of Antoine Walker), Mesha O’Neal (wife of Jermaine O’Neal), Royce Reed, Faith Rain (Udonis Haslem’s girlfriend), and Shaunie O’Neal (the soon-to-be ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal). Really, where in the world is La-La, Carmello’s wife? We were expecting to see her name included in the cast.

The show is scheduled to air March 15!

Lisa Raye is Up Next for a Reality Show!

Like we really need more reality shows. It has been reported that Lisa Raye is getting her very own reality show on TV ONE in spring. We love Lisa Raye, but do we love her enough to want to know what she does everyday? She doesn’t come off as one of the most exciting people. The show is supposed to cover her recent divorce, raising a 19 year old daughter, and getting her acting career out the gutter…Will you be tuning in?

Before we know it, anyone and everyone will have a reality show. Next on the list, following Scott Storch, Chilli, Tiny and Toya, and Keyshia Cole’s mother, En Vogue is set to have their own reality show. Almost 20 years after the release of their first album, En Vogue has finally reunited. All four members appeared at the Essence Music festival in New Orleans on Sunday, performing old hits, promising a new album, and mentioned the production of their reality show. En Vogue group member said, “The industry has changed. It’s not just about getting a record deal anymore. It’s about exposure.”

Twitter Weighs in on BET’s “Tiny & Toya”

BET’s new reality show, “Tiny & Toya” debuted last night, and it seemed as though EVERYONE on Twitter was talking about it and giving their two cents. So much in fact that it ended up being the #1 trending topic during the time that it was on air. With all of the issues going on in the world, “Tiny & Toya” was the #1 topic??? Interesting. What a world we live in.

Another Vh1 Reality Dating Show

Frank “The Entertainer” (pictured above with his mother that he still lives at home with at 30 something years old), from I Love New York and I Love Money will be starring in his own reality dating show courtesy of Vh1. This should be interesting…Soon enough Taylor Maid and Budda will be joining the reality dating bandwagon.

Casting will be held in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Phoenix, Boston, Vegas and the Jersey Shore, NJ.

T.I’s Reality Show Scheduled to Air

I remember reading last year that T.I is going to have a reality show air before he is sent to prison for a year. I dont know if it’s the cool thing for celebrities to get in some serious trouble and then tape a reality show before they go behind bars (Lil Kim), but, it seems to give celebs more publicity. Anyway, TI’s Road To Redemption: 45 Days to Go is scheduled to air on MTV Feb 10th.

Look Who’s In NYC

At first glance I thought this was Hillary Duff, but nope, it’s her sister Haylie Duff on location in Brooklyn for her “Legally Blonde” MTV reality show. Guess the whole family needs their fame!

It was a whole big deal how MTV was casting for a the new reality back in January and the character chosen to play Elle Woods ended being the sister of a celebrity. No surprise here…. SO NOT FAIR

“A new MTV reality show may cast Legally Blonde’s next leading lady.

A casting representative from MTV confirmed to Playbill.com Jan. 14 that the cable network will hold auditions Jan. 21 in Orlando, FL, for an upcoming reality show that will search for an actress to play Elle Woods in the Broadway production of Legally Blonde.

A casting notice in the Orlando Sentinel blog reveals that casting for the television reality show gets underway Jan. 21 at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Florida. The open call, which is open to non-union talent, is seeking actresses 18 and over with strong acting, vocal and dancing skills to compete for the lead in the Broadway musical. The notice states that filming will take place over four weeks in March.

Richard H. Blake, currently starring as Warner in the Broadway musical at the Palace Theatre, also commented on his website that Legally Blonde would search for its next Elle Woods through a new reality show on the MTV network. Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy currently stars as the pink-clad star of the Broadway musical.” SOURCE
