Events: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in NYC

Last night in NYC, the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place and everyone looked amazing. Celebs such as Keri Hilson, Jay-Z, Fergie, and even Dr. Dre all came out to watch the supermodels hit the runway. The Black Eyed Peas were the performers of the night. We forgot they even had an album out. It appears to be a very dressy event, and everyone looked nice. (Jay-Z in a bow tie pure comedy )

Its funny how you were considered a supermodel if you were on the cover of Vogue or Elle, but nowadays you have to be strutting the Victoria’s Secret runway or gracing the catalog cover to even be recognized.

Victoria’s Secret put on the sexiest runway show on the planet. These girls actually eat and work out to stay fit. You can view more pics from the event after the jump.

Join Former President Clinton, Actress Garcelle Beauvais, Wyclef and More in the Love ‘N Haiti Movement

A number of celebrities are rallying behind Haiti to help the embattled country win a global competition hosted by BBC World News and Newsweek. Wyclef, actress/model Garcelle Beauvais, Russell Simmons, Free (Power 105 FM), Sha Money, Tony Yayo, DJ Whoo Kid, Mona Scott-Young (Monami Entertainment), actor Jamie Hector and singer Black Dada have signed on as ambassadors for LOVE ‘N HAITI, a recycling project in Port-au-Prince that turns everyday trash into energy. LOVE ‘N HAITI – an initiative also championed by President Bill Clinton – is one of twelve finalists in the BBC’s “World Challenge ’09,” which will award a grant to the finalist with the most online votes. The cash grant will help LOVE ‘N HAITI continue its recycling efforts, which aid in decreasing deforestation, creating jobs, and reducing the incidence of floods.

The City of Miami and Waste Management have launched a voting campaign to support Port-au-Prince, Haiti in the BBC World News’ World Challenge ’09 competition, a contest that awards innovative, grassroots-level projects and small businesses from around the world.

As one of 12 finalists in the competition, Haiti stands to win a grant to further its recycling project LOVE ‘N HAITI, which turns everyday trash into paper charcoal briquettes.

The LOVE ‘N HAITI project benefits Haiti by:

· decreasing deforestation

· creating a cleaner, safer and healthier environment

· creating jobs

· reducing the incidence of floods

“I’m proud to be a part of this campaign, not only because it’s for my people, but because I care about our environment,” says Wyclef. “All it takes is one vote to make a difference. We need everyone to support LOVE N’ HAITI!”

This past weekend, music executive, Lyor Cohen, celebrated his 50th birthday party in the city, and many of the music and entertainment industry’s elite were in attendance. Russell Simmons took us inside the event through his twitter page, and decided to share some exclusive pictures with us. (Sidebar: Amber Rose is really the only person who can get away with wearing dark shades in the club.)

Last night Russell told me his lifelong partner Lyor Cohen celebrated his 50 birthday. Dj Cassidy was on the turntables. Trey Songz performed while Jay-Z, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Jon Bon Jovi, Kevin Liles, Mayor Cory Booker and Veronica Webb along with many business leaders, artists and politicians attended and everyone had great time. It’s such a cool thing to see friends hang out and enjoy them self and last night we got the chance to see two life long friends and business partners celebrate life. Russell Simmons tweeted some images and words from Lyor’s birthday party thrown by Lyor’s beautiful girlfriend Tory Burch.

Nice. Oh, to be a fly on that wall…

We haven’t seen these two together in a while. Russell Simmons & Kimora Lee were spotted last night smiling for the paps backstage at the Baby Phat Show. This is how divorced parents should act, well at least in public. Kimora still has that mommy glow, but when doesn’t she have that? Baby Phat is always the most star studded show during NYC Fashion Week. Celebs such as DJ Clue, Kim Kardashian, Amber Rose, and many more were all there to see if Kimora still had her touch. Amber Rose is truly becoming a star in her own right. Miss.Rose got her runway walk on in the Celestino fashion show during NYC Fashion Week. We aren’t crazy about the look. The tattoo and bald head just don’t fit the bridal gown.

She should have walked in a more edgy show that fits her overall image. We love us some Amber Rose, but she was used only to bring attention to this show. Check out who showed up to support Amber after the jump.

Kanye West’s boo, Amber Rose had an event in her honor at The Griffin in the notorious meatpacking district last night. The event was also hosted by Russell Simmons, (You know he loves the models)

As mentioned before, she was also on stage with Kanye during his performance at MSG, so clearly they had a busy night.

Aubrey O’day Visits Wendy Williams + Trunk Show Event

Last night, Ian Jarrell of ATF attended the private trunk show for Aubrey O’day’s new line “Dare To Love“, which is the latest edition to her Heart On My Sleeve fashion line. Aubrey looked stunning last night, for some reason she always looks better in person than on TV. The event was held inside the Owl Lab store in Soho. Aubrey’s shirt stated “My Sex Tape Comes
Out Next Week” We wouldn’t put it pass her AT ALL…We love this girl.

We couldn’t believe that all those people showed up to show Aubrey some love. Jaslene Gonzalez, one of the featured line models, came through looking fab in her jean corset top. But the most surprising guest of them all was entertainment mogul, Russell Simmons, who slid in and slid out like a ghost. Overall the event was pretty cool, everyone was enjoying themselves. Not to mention the shirts were kinda cute.

New York State Governor David Paterson was spotted out and about with his daughter, Ashley Dennis, and some family friends at NYC hotspot Taj Lounge this past Wednesday.

Wednesday nights at Taj Lounge is a weekly party hosted by Jessica Rosenblum, music by DJ Logic and Emcee’d by Frank Jugga.Attendees included Russell Simmons, Andre Harrell, Harve Pierre, Jessica Rosenblum, MC Frank Jugga, Nick Storm, Hen Roc and singer Stefani Vara.

Kim Kardashian Finally Addresses the Critics

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush decided to join Russell Simmons Global Grind organization and go to Africa, but a few harsh critics have a problem with her going to Africa and were saying “How dare she go to Africa?”. Kim really felt hurt about this and wanted to let people know how she felt. She toldFox411.com:

“I don’t understand it because I was raised to not see color, But you’re still faced with it, and it’s just like, you know what, I can’t believe that charity work is being judged, and I can’t believe people would even comment on that and I think it’s really disgusting,”

“At the end of the day, you just have to brush them off, you have no choice,I hope by the time Reggie and I have kids, things will be different.”

We totally agree with Kim because Africa can be visited by anyone of any race. Plus there are Caucasians that live in Africa. Do you agree with Kim or the critics?

Over the weekend, Adrienne Bailon & Beyonce both looked fabulous. Adrienne was spotted working the carpet @ Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Art For Life Benefit in the Hamptons. She was rocking the simple one-shoulder white dress with a fresh face. Beyonce was helping the hungry on one of her tour stops, wearing a two toned green jumper.
