Boston Bombing Victim Depressed After Losing Leg, Then Mom Delivers Unexpected News (Video)

In 2013, Roseann Sdoia was near the finish line when the bomb exploded in Boston. She was rescued by a firefighter who rode with her to the hospital. Devastatingly, Sdoia lost her leg from the explosion, but the firefighter, Mike Materia, stayed with her in the hospital to comfort her through surgery and recovery. As Sdoia mourned her leg and recovered from the explosion, her mom decided to do something about it, play matchmaker. Sdoia tells the NY Post "In the hospital, my mom tried to set me up with him. She was like, 'Oh, did you see that firefighter? He’s so cute.' And I was like, 'Mom, I just got blown up." But her mother got her way and a month later they went on a date. Now, Sdoia and Materia are engaged.
