Woman Arrested For DUI, Husband Shows Up Drunk At Police Station To Pick Her Up

They say that alcohol can impair your judgement, but this case is truly hard to believe. It seems that police officers in Hamburg Township, Michigan recently arrested a local couple on alcohol-related charges.

The wife was first arrested for driving while intoxicated with her children in the car, and the even more inebriated father was arrested a short while later on similar charges when he showed up at the station to pick up the children.

Siobhan Theresa Egnot is the wife’s name. Egnot has been released from custody on a $5,000 bond, and is looking at charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with occupants under the age of 16. The charges against the husband have not yet been announced.

According to Hamburg Township Police Chief Rick Duffany, the situation began at 3 pm on January 29 when the department was contacted regarding a 2016 Ford Explorer that had ended up in the front yard of a home on Bass Ridge Rd.

The police report noted that responding officers believed Egnot was intoxicated, so they administered sobriety tests, which she failed.

At that point, Egnot called her husband to come pick up their two children, a 5-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son, who had been with her in the vehicle.

But when the 39-year-old husband pulled up at the police station, the officers noted that the husband smelled and appeared intoxicated, so he was tested and then arrested.

Chief Duffany said he could not talk about the results of the alcohol breath tests on the couple as the investigation was still active.

The police informed Michigan Child Protective Services after both parents were arrested. MCPS came to the station to take temporary custody of the children. Authorities told local media sources that the kids were taken in by their maternal grandmother.

The children may return to the custody of their parents after the legal situation is finalized.
