Truck Made Out of Ice Looks Just Like A Chevy Silverado
The Chevy Silverado is one of the most popular trucks out on the road. The 2020 model is the “strongest, most capable Silverado HD ever.” It contains 2 heavy-duty powertrain options, a larger and stronger Durabed, and new technologies for towing. J.D. Power named the Silverado HD the “Most Dependable Large Heavy-Duty Pickup” based on its 2017 model.
A Canadian tire retailer, Canadian Tire, created an “ice truck” where they chose a vehicle that looks just like the Chevy Silverado. They outsourced an icemaker to cut out ice blocks in varying shapes and sizes which created this truck. The ice itself weighs an astonishing 14,000 pounds. And, the truck’s frame had to be welded to a rigid state in order to keep the ice intact, one wrong move, and the ice would crack.
The purpose of this ice truck was to showcase Canadian Tire’s new weather-resistant battery which they said can withstand temperatures as low as negative 40 degrees. The tire retailer initially created a commercial where they placed the battery into a freezer to show that it can withstand the negative 40-degree temperature. Then decided to take it a step further and created the ice truck.
In a commercial featuring the ice truck that resembles the Chevy Silverado, the Canadian Tire’s weather-resistant battery was placed inside the truck. The truck was then driven 1.5 kilometers through a small Ontario town which is pretty amazing considering the 14,000 weight of the truck.
