Home Decorating Tips For The Basement
The basement of any house may be the dreariest room in the house, but the reality is that the room can be transformed into a lively room that one can enjoy. Most people use the basement as a storage area or an area to do their washing. Here are a few décor changes that can make your basement more welcoming.
Family Room
Turning your basement into the family room is probably the best idea since it can offer a space for your entire family to bond. Color the walls bright or use the traditional brick prints. Throw in a couple of game tables like pool and foosball. If you can afford it, then get any arcade game machine. You can even install a television set and a gaming console. The whole family can enjoy playing games as well as watch movies on the television set. But no matter what you add to the room, it will all go to waste if the room is still dark and dreary. Add sufficient lights to the room. Carpeting the floor can make the room more welcoming for the family. Also, it is important to waterproof the room since there may be various pipes running through the room and moisture tend to accumulate in basements.
Private Space
If you need an extra room in the house where you can get some peace and quiet for your official work then the basement is the best place for it. Add bright colors to the wall to make the area more welcoming and also add adequate lights to ensure that you can see properly. Get a desk, chairs, shelves, and cabinets that go with the décor of the room. You can even have your office space at home.
Gym Room
Most rooms in the house are too small to be turned into a proper gym room. You can add large fitness equipment to the room if you choose. All you may need is proper ventilation or air conditioning. The flooring and walls should not matter much if you do plan to turn the room into a gym.
Wine Cellar
Having a wine cellar in the home may be a dream for many. The elegance of wooden floors and walls add to the aesthetic effect of shelves of wine bottles. You can add a table and chairs for your visitors who you can bring to enjoy the cellar.
Library
Having an extensive book collection can create clutter around the house. Keeping books in storage can feel harsh, so turn your basement into a library. Add shelves where you can arrange your books. Also, be sure to add plenty of lights so that you can see all the books and can read in the basement as well. Add a sofa or a table and chairs for the best reading space.
There are just a few ways you can enjoy your basement and decorate it as you please. It is always a good idea to keep a dehumidifier in the basement to keep moisture at bay. Have fun with whatever it is you decide to do in your basement.
