The Joys of Pregnancy: Painful Acne and Free-For-All Flatulence To Name A Few
That pregnancy glow and the joy that comes along with creating a life are mostly what comes to mind when one thinks pregnancy. What they don’t tell us is that pregnancy is a dirty business.
And by dirty, we mean flat out disgusting.
Anne Radcliffe asked her fellow mothers on Facebook what happened to them during pregnancy that they weren’t expecting.
The result: “a giant Facebook thread (vomited out in a huge rush of pent-up rage) of every gross, unbelievable, obnoxious symptom and weird thing that nobody told us can happen during pregnancy, labor, and even afterwards (there’s almost enough stuff here to write a book),” she writes in The Huffington Post.
The women pondered why it was that these less glamorous aspects of pregnancy were a mystery to them prior to them becoming pregnant. In the end, most of the women agreed on one thing.
“Motherhood is a joy, but it sometimes comes covered in snot, bucket sweat, and poop,” Radcliffe wrote. “It also comes with lots of groping from strangers, in case that floats your boat.”
Here is her list of “9 of the Grossest Pregnancy Secrets No One Talks About”:
1. Painful acne
2. When your nose becomes your enemy
3. “All F***ing-Day Sickness”
4. When your body walks out on you
5. Your mouth becomes a nuisance
6. Turning into a sweaty, hairy she-beast
7. Pregnancy dementia
8. Spending most of your time in the bathroom
9. Non-stop farting
