How to Create an Indoor Waterfall for Your Home

People usually decorate their homes in a way that speaks of their personalities. That is why you see some houses are decorated frugal, sleek, classy, and modern, while others are over the top. These aspects of every home speak a lot about the people living in the house. There are a lot of things that can give your house its own identity and not be like other houses that seem to have gone through a cookie-cutter. Most everyone tries in their own way to accessorize their homes and make them appealing for one reason or another. Honestly, it can be quite fun.

One such aspect that adds a lot of depth and a zen feel to homes is to create a waterfall inside the house. It gives your home a unique touch and takes the décor on a totally different level. It may seem like an expensive thing to do but actually creating an indoor waterfall is not as expensive as you think. You can design an indoor waterfall for your home on a boot-strapped budget. Here are a few simple steps that will help you in creating an indoor waterfall for your home. This DIY is an absolutely easy and pocket-friendly method for you to own an indoor waterfall.

Waterfall in a Stone Basin

For this kind of a waterfall, all you need is a large basin (preferably stone for an antique look), a small electric water pump, shiny pebbles or stones, and long plastic tubes. To begin, you need to start by placing the water pump inside the stone basin and cover it with pebbles so that they support the pump. Place the waterfall in the place where you intend to keep it as you wouldn’t be able to move it once the pump is fixed. Then take a piece of plastic tube, big enough to direct the flow of the water (up and down) through the basin.

Let one end of the tube rest around the pump and hide the tubing under the rocks too. Place the tube in a way that the water flows from the tube over the rocks without spilling from the container. The water level in the basin should immerse the pump. Once that is done, start the pump and your waterfall is ready.

The entire process is pretty simple and you can own your own waterfall without splurging much. You can add to the mood of the waterfall by adding plants and flowers around it, as the waterfall will simulate being out in nature by a creek. Such sounds and nature visuals are quite therapeutic and many people rave about how they love their indoor waterfall. It is also a fun project to do with your partner or children.

This small waterfall will elevate the aesthetics of your home to a new level. Your friends and family will most likely fall in love with it and want to create one in their home as well!
