Here Is How Castor Oil Can Help With Hair Loss

Hair loss occurs when hair that has fallen out has not been replaced by new hair in the same area. Hair loss is usually genetic and can occur at any adult age but this will often depend on the individual and the genetics involved. Hair loss can also be caused by other factors such as stress, anxiety, hormonal changes and aging. Hair loss can be gradual or it can occur quickly. Fortunately, there are remedies that can help regenerate and grow hair.

Castor Oil comes from the castor bean, and is a vegetable oil similar to any other. It has been used for centuries as a stimulant laxative, and as a treatment for various skin and hair conditions. Before bed, rub castor oil into your scalp, put on a plastic shower cap, then wrap your head in a towel and leave overnight. During the day, apply a small amount of castor oil to the scalp and/or the hair. This oil is thick, so a little goes a long way. It is not necessary to wash the oil out after ever treatment, unless you find that your scalp or hair is too oily for your taste.

Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid (as in the toxin ricin), which acts as a natural antifungal and antibacterial. This can prevent and treat infections that cause hair loss. Because it is a humectant, castor oil draws moisture into the hair, adding strength and making it appear thicker. The omega-9 fatty acids in the oil also nourish the hair and scalp, allowing for regeneration of hair.

Another advantage is when castor oil is applied to the ends of hair, it can help repair damage and prevent split ends, allowing hair to grow longer with less breakage. Topical application of castor oil to the hair and/or scalp does not generally cause any unpleasant side effects.
